just put in fresh gears and the tranny seams to turn over hard but works alright. took it out for a run and it worked alright. Is this normal till the gears break in?

I just re-built a Revo tranny and after I was done I could easily spin the gears after I assembled the tranny case.

You may have missed a washer someplace and possibly one of the gears is rubbing on the tranny case.

I agree with robmob. You probably missed a washer or shim, or have it in the wrong place. There's also the possibility that because of that, two gears are rubbing side by side. I added the 3 speed kit in a Savage and had no resistance. You'll need to open it up and check it out to avoid future problems.

Yep. I did the same thing a few times. You probably have one of those teflon shims in a spot it's not supposed to be in. Or they inadvertently doubled up on you since they stick to bearings.

I had a real issue with that when I swapped over to an aluminum housing. Poor thing wouldn't hardly turn. Had a few too many shims in. I put them in where it made sense... not where they diagram shows you. I later printed out the diagram, followed it to a T and it spun smoothly and easily in my hands after that.

do you have the diagram? there is a shim i forgot to put in mine its on the main steel forward gear and without the gears did bind a little on mine.....it a little brass colored spring washer
