If you put new O~rings in it when you rebuilt it then it should not have a leak.

I would say it's lean, richen both HSN & LSN.

You can have it slobbery rich on the HSN & if it's lean on the LSN it's going to get hot.
 
invest in a good temp gauge/gun, so you know exactly what temps your running!
 
Can you get it running at all or is just turning over and not firing. If that's the case what is your carb opening like. I know when my engine was new I had to open it up a bit on the throttle trim to start it then turn it back so it wouldn't idle to high. Once it was broken in and tuned I just got the opening set at about 1.5mm and have never had a problem again. Except with glow plugs but that's whole other too rich problem from the cooler September weather.
