Rebuild Time?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I've got another one. I was talking to a guy who has had several nitro trucks and he was telling me that you need to rebuild the engine every gallon of fuel that you use. I have gone throught about 1 gallon now so is it time to rebuild or is he full of bolony. I'm not running it very lean and am fairly easy on it, just do short WOT runs every once in a while, and they're short when I do them. So do I need to rebuild?

No you definatly do not need to rebuild. I've gotten 4-6 gallons through all of my, with no rebuild needed.

Some engines don't even get fully broken in until one gallon, your fine, if his engines are only lasting a gallon hes doing something wrong.

Yeah, I'll second all of that. Typically, when you lose compression (or it outright just blows up on ya) then you need to rebuild. So long as the beast is running the way you want it to, keep running it!

If I get less than 9-10 gallons through an engine before it needs a rebuild, I feel that I have failed at maintaining the engine... 1 gallon!?!? If I was burning up an engine every gallon, I'd get out of the hobby! I use about 12 gallons a year!

Thanks everybody, I was just curious because I'm big on maintnance so if it needed it I was going to do it.
