hey everyone. i had an idea today. turn my t maxx into a rear wheel drie monster truck. i removed the front drive shaft. took it out. started it with my jerry rigged starter cuz my ez start died. and started driving it. its a lot more fun. it drifts easier, does dounuts easier, i can spin the tires very easily, and it seems like it goes a lot faster. the only problems with it is that is oversteers a lot making me spin out. and my bad brake is even worse so i have to put my foot out to stop it. it also bottoms out a lot more since my shocks are completely shot. its a lot of fun and all but is this bad for my engine? rear diff? tranny? rear drive shaft? anything else I'm not mentioning? i havent noticed an engine temp change. i just had to tune it. give me your thoughts

i have turned my t-maxx in to a drag race truck. i filled the differential with J-B weld, and removed the front driveshaft, which put LOTS more power to the rear. took two shocks off the front, which droped the front end. so i took a stock skid plate ( plastic) cut it so i can still get to the stock skid plate bolts, and bolted it to the up right part of the aluminum skid plate. so the plastic skid plate takes all the punishment. i also took the wide shock spacer from the front and put it on the back, which locked the back up. now any time i put the breaks on it makes a right turn, all by its self. if i turn it to the left it flips over. why did i do this? 1. at hart iam a drag racer, and i can't find any drag racers in Wichita. 2 iam poor driver, so jumping ect just doesn't work for me. also i have started mixing my own nitro. Did you take out the front diff as well? If not, it's adding drag to your front end which makes it not as friendly to drive.

I ran a maxx like that for a long time due to being tired of replacing diffs on both ends all the time. I really enjoyed running it that way. I put a set of street tires on the front and something aggressive on the rear. Ran it that way for a year or so. Made it a lot more responsive to throttle input. I didn't notice the rear diff or axles going out any quicker than when I had the front hooked in. Was nice having a 2wd stadium with ground clearance to run in grass. ;)

well no olds i didnt take out the front diff. i didnt know what to do with the front shafts or how they would efect the front steering or bearings. iam watching NHRA drag racing 12:30 am sun morn. love the nitro cars

I ran mine like that for a while when my front diff blew out. The extra stress on the rear dif tor it out in not time flat. But then again I was also running a Picco .26Maxx so it was only a matter of time anyway.

hmmm maybe i should go back to 4 wheel drive till i get some money. i can't have anything else break on this truck. I'm already using a jerry rigged "starter controler" till i get a pull starter. i really dont wanna break a diff

may be you could reajust the throttle linkage so it only opens half way. thats what i did to break in my 3.3 engine. it worked very good.
