Hey guys. I have a Savage 21 and the last time I was bashing it, I noticed that the rear wheels weren't pulling as fast or strong as the front ones. I've broken and fixed many things before, but this is the first time this has ever happened. The powertrain on my Savage is stock (engine, clutch, etc.). Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions as to why my rear wheels don't turn as fast/strong as my front ones and what I should do to fix it?

I've been able to count on you guys before, so any help would be great. :bling:

Thanks.

power????

hi mate, you might want to check the little pins that sit in the hex inside your wheels, i dont know what they called of the top of my head. as shorty had this problem yesterday. or you might want to check your 13 tooth bevel gear, it might have a few teeth missing.

If you do buy a new 13t pinion gear make sure that it's all black and not two tone like the above picture.

You might also have to do the 4 spider mod.(diffs might stripped)

Hey guys,
I need a little more detail. Where are these things located? What do I need to take apart to get to these parts - specifically the 4 spider mod and the pinion gear?

I can figure out how to repair stuff with the right directions, but I'm not sure exactly where all of these things are located.

Thanks again for your help so far.

I don't have a savage, but these parts are located inside your differential. The block that the rear axles both go into in the rear of the truck.

The 4 gear spider mod is in effect doubling up the spider gears to make the diff stronger and less likely to break under extreme HP. It comes stock with 2.

Just look for differential assembly in your manual or parts explosion if you have one. It should give you a step by step of tearing it down or at least putting it back together.

Olds said it all. Run a serch for this page andf you will find all the info you need on the 4 spider mod.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the help. Hopefully I'll be back on the road soon.

The first thread in this section of the site details where to find good information on the spider mod. No need to run the search unless you are looking for other information.

Good luck with the repairs.

I'll bet you blew the rims. If you pick up the truck and gas the truck, do all the wheels turn equally?
