OK, another dumb revo question from a revo n00b.

I was looking over the revo again today and i got to thinking that since the rear knuckles are the same as the front, is it possible to fit a rear steering kit?

For now, this is just a question, but i may look into doing the mod in a couple months if it is possible.

Are there any available kits ?

Reason for the dumb question is that it would, for me, add a further dimension of fun to an already fun rig.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help y'all

I'm sure you could make some way to do a 4 wheel steer mod, but there are very very few instances when you would want it. if you turn with it at any speed at all you will just loose it. its nice for slow maneuvering or something. but not good for any speed at all. now if you could figure out a way to turn it on and off.. that may be a winner.

The main reason i asked about if it was possible to utilise rear steer or if aa rear steer kit was available, is that i want to do some "Precision" driving with it around a course i want to setup. Nothing too difficult, but to do it, i would need rear steer.

To "Switch it out" would simply require an "inline" on/off switch or "lock out" device of some form. it would also require a "mixer" to allow the setting of the amount of rear steer that can be utilised.

On the flip side, it would also make the electric revo's more capable of becoming/trying to become rock crawling machines aswell.

ya thats my thought do an switch wired into a conector. and using the 3rd channel radio you could wire that switch into the third channel

Hmm, a 3 position centre off switch, with the servo wired so that it runs normally one way, and reversed the other to give crab steering maybe................

I'm definately going to look into this a bit further.

no just so you can wire it up like Real 1:1 monster trucks. No rear steer or full rear steer. you could do some insane doughnuts with that

With a 3 position switch, as stated above, i can have full steering that matches the front end but in reverse (enabling tight turning circles) or have "Crab" steering so that the truck "drives" sideways.

Much like some 1:1 monster trucks have, only i think (and i do mean THINK), they call it a "reverse steering" switch, but DO NOT quote me on it as i know NOTHING about 1:1 MT's.

yeah i think its a rear steer switch. but i don't think they have the crab position

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET !!! just what i was looking for !!

I still say i could do it with a switch though......... HA ! guess i don't have to now though.

Cheers suicide.

Now, how and where do i mount that rear steer servo horn / lever, i have the rest worked out already !!!

i would mount the servo in the rear body post. you may have to relocate the Easy start, but its worth it. now heres what i mean

Easy start ? WHAT easy start ? i got a pull start on mine, a thunder tiger one at that !!!!

That is one HECK of a lot of linkage, too much linkage actually but thanks to seeing that, i now know exactly how to get what i want.

I'm supposed to be cleaning my room. Oh well i helped you out. your right thats more linkage they i think i would put there. its way more complicated than it needs to be

yea if you want to do something like that, a rear steer would be nice... on the maxxes they used a plate that went where the bulkhead brace is and held a servo upside down. you connected the rods to the servo saver and away it went...

i had one on my e-maxx

Man if i had the money that rig would have been mine. thats cool as hell.

diggin up an old thread but i just finished my rear steer and it turned out pretty good...the only thing i kind of dont like is the fact that i no longer have a rear bumper...o well...no reverse anyway so i shouldnt need a rear bumper....and i have a modded 3 channel controller so i can set the potientiometers however you spell that to were i have full steering capibility or just i slight amount of rear steer...one down side is that i have to manually flip the swith to activate it.....fully capible of crab walk either direction and tight circles......score
