Hello, i'm new to the forum and an owner of an HPI RS4 3SS.
I recently painted my body and i wish to see it stay clean and not have oil from the exhaust on the car. are there any rear exhausts like those on full size cars available for the .12SS engine that came with my car?

Thanx

Gthang

not sure. My HPI super nitro came w/ a rear exhaust .15fe engine. Don't know if it would fit. Try calling HPI

hello gthang and Welcome to RCNT!

i cannot think of anything currently on the market but you can go two other ways.
first - utilize an exhaust router. this simply attaches to the stinger of the exhaust and moves the exhaust away from the car.
second - take a look at last months RC Car action. there you will find a scratch built F1 nitro car where the man utilized a custom header to keep a scale appearance. maybe u could make something like that. please keep in mind that with any additional exhaust routing - u will lose power.
finally - the new tamiya ferrari nitro car uses a scale exhaust router, just like u want, but the engine is on the other side of the car.

OK As many of you may know, the .12SS engine that comes with the Type SS is a side exhaust, which means that the exhaust manifold is bolted to the side of the engine.

What i am looking for is an exhaust kit that takes the side exhaust and makes an rear exit, so my car doesn't get dirty.

Are there any exhausts for other makes of engine that might fit?

are u wanting to know if there is a kit available that will route the exhaust out the back of the car, like it does in a real vehicle?

yeah kind of, what i looking for is either the full exhaust kit, or at least a router and rear muffler!

Here is an example of what I'm looking for:

Go to HPIracing.com, click Gallery, Click Week 3 (January), and scroll down about 1/4 the page. you sould find a porsche with a flip paint job owned by someone from oakland, california (a guy named scott). A black ford focus is the following car.

Sorry i can't post a direct link.

the problem u will run into is that 99% of all touring cars have a side exit exhaust. if u are just trying to prevent your body from getting messy, u can add a GS router tube on the stinger of the exhaust u have now. Please keep in mind, however, that fuel, sludge, and oils are a way of life with any nitro car no matter what you do. if you are trying to route it to the rear for asthetic purposes and to make it look more like a scale real car, then the only thing i can tell u is to check out Tamyia's new Ferrari kit, as they have custom made an exhaust system for that vehicle.

i looked art the hpi site - that is what i thought u were talking about - and my answer stil stands. what he did was a custom job - and a damn good one. there are a couple of monster trucks, the new MGT is one of them that use a pipe similar to this. u could mount it to the rear of the car, and then route the exhaust from the originaly header to there via a silcone tube.

I remember seeing a few websites that sold rear exhaust kits that formed a spiral to get over the shock tower before coming back down to the chassis to the rear.

I don't remember exactly what websites they were anymore...:opps:
