I have a really stupid question and I feel like a huge moron for even asking this, but I was bashing with my savage today and broke the antanna tube, so I went to the LHS and picked up some Duratrax universal ones(Only ones they had, well they had some hot pink ones (Not for me..lol) so I had to get the duratrash ones) , and I can't seem to get them on.. Any suggestions? I can the wire in there about half way and it stops, and I can get any further. The pack of tubes came in a pack of 10 and I've tried them all, so that rules the tube out. Suprisingly of all my rc's I've had this is the 1st time I've had to replace one.. Any help or tips would be appriciated.. Thanks ~The moron

You can try and smooth the antenna out by pulling it lightly between you finger and thumb. The either wet the antenna as you feed it through or use a little boy butter (vasoline) to help ease through. Kentucky Jelly might work too if you have any of that laying around.

i would spray some wd-40 down the tube to lube it up or sumthin i had to do that once but thats my opinion i dont know if it will hurt the reciever or nething...it never did nething to mine.

later,
tyler

I finally got it. What a pain.. I must have had a small kink in it or something that just wouldnt go thru.. grr... But thanks for the help! Its appriciated! I got to feel like a dumbass for nothing...lol

Spit in it andy :spit: I will twist the tube while pushing the wire through it..

I put a little dishsoap on my fingers and lube the antenna wire. Works like a dream.

i use the wd-40 trick.. or you can use a tiny wire.. like and antena off an old cheepo r/c to snake it through

I tried twisting it, and it wouldnt go any further. What I ended up doing was the soap thing. Just a dab down the tube, and it lubed er right up. But man, what a pain..lol

Dish soap or powder only, many oil based lubes can damage the insulation on the wire and can cause problems or glitching.

Another thing you can do if you have an air compressor and blower nozzel, is blow air through the tube on the feed end when it gets to a sticky spot. Or stick a piece of fuel tubing over the end of the antenna tube with a cut about 3 inches from the end and blow the air out the end to creat a syphon to suck the wire through.

Or you can do it the easy way. Feed a peice of tie wire through the tube. Put a drop of tire glue or super glue on the tip of the wire and stick the tip of the antenna wire to it and pull it through. :hammer:

I just had to do this yesterday with my gt. I always put a drop of after-run oil down the tube and push the wire throught the end that you dropped the stuff in. That way, the oil lubes up the whole antenna and its easy to get up. Twisting really works too, thats what i end up doing everytime.
