hey, well i finally got my mugen mbx4 xr works edition, i got a RB C-5 in okay condition, i went out and bought a new conrod for it. so we should be good there. but the question is... with 250.00, whats a good inline pipe, and servos for the beast. i need to have it in great race conditon ya know. So leave some here telling me what i should do, thanks alot!

I personally am a JR electronics kinda guy. I'd go with Jr parts if it was upt o me. As for a pipe. There are tons of choices for pipes

I also love JR, great radio equip. Digital is better imo so see if your budget can fit a set of digi's. As for a pipe, well that engine is an animal so depending on the track you might want to look at

the RB 086 or 063 would be a fitting pipe depending on if you run a short track or not.

Over the years of flying and driving, I've become more partial to Hitec. A great steering servo would be the HS-645MG. Gobs of torque and fast transit speeds.

WOW.. you will notice that alot of people are partial to their own brands.. and i guess i am one of them.. i like Hitec.. and Airtronics.. i got a Airtronics 357 steering servo.. has 125oz torque and .07 transit speed.. and a digital throttle servo..

i dont think digital servos are that great.. cuz they tend to burn up especially in these cars.. i burnt 2 of them.. also.. i like the Hitec 925mg servo.. very fast also..

RCaeroguy says the 645.. which is way to slow for me.. .2 transit speed.. has lots of torque.. but i need the speed.. get the 945 if your gonna do tthat..

As far as a pipe.. ofna makes good pipes.. 086 is the pretty much norm for most motors.. its a top end pipe.. or get the 063 if you need bottom end.. but the C5 motor has gobs of bottom end.. so i woud get the 086..

actually the c5 has lots of top end and relatively less bottom end...so go for a pipe that gives bottom end

Currently in my 9.5V I'm running:
Futaba S3305 steering (high torque, metal gear) ~$40
Futaba S3010 throttle (high torque) ~$30

I couldn't be happier. When the HS645MG goes in my savage, it'll be replaced with a S3305.

If you can afford them and don't care about battery run time, go digital. They actually produce the torque they're rated for .

will these be powerfull enough for my mbx4? I dont want to have a high class buggy with cheap slow servos and then have my buggy run away on me b/c of no power. thanks

They are plenty powerfull. The HiTec HS645MG has been the standard hop-up steering servo for a few years now on monster trucks. Both of these have torque that is just a hair less than the HiTec, but it is almost unnoticeable. I like a a high torque (rather than high speed) throttle servo for smoother throttle response and much better braking response (not power, you can lock up the brakes or destroy diffs with even the cheap servos). A $10 servo will work just fine for throttle/brake duties, but it's nice to have a bit more control.

Just search on Tower. They'll have all of the mentioned servos, except for the JR's. Look at www.stormerhobbies.com for those. I assume you're already running a nice hump pack... As for pipe's, I'm not sure what the best is out there for buggies, I've heard no complaints about THS for MT's. If you're worried about runaway's or losing control, make sure you pick up a failsafe and a beefy throttle return spring. I've had Dynamite and Ofna failsafe's, both of which crapped out on me within a short time... Now I run without them and be careful and prepared to accept the consequences...

actually the c5 has power ban all over the range I have driven one. The one I drove was no tthe Rody modified though. To each his own as it is debateable. So if you run a short track a 063 is your money pipe and if you have long straights the 086 is pimp daddy. Just to let you know a 086 is recomended for that engine, not by me but by RB products.

That servo is really slow for a buggy servo, with a MT slow steering is just excepted well with buggies this is different but that is just my opinion.

You can find 086 pipes for less than $115. Ofna makes a decent one, and Debbie's carries it. Might ask about it.

you can get the Ofna 086, and 063 pipes on ebay for like 55 bux.. as far as servos go.. go to www.servocity.com i have ordered from them.. great customer service.. they deal with futaba and hitec.. so oyou can compare.. i personally run the 925mg servos.. for the speed.. i like when i turn the wheel.. the tires are at full lock at the same time i am at full lock..

With that engine I would ger Alum clutches with 1.1 springs and a 086 pipe. I have a RB ws7 with that combo and it rips...power from low end to high end. After getting the Airtronics 94358 for steering I am never going to get anything else. This thing is a beast 200oz for TQ at .10 speed. I have never heard of anybody breaking one yet. I had a Hitec the .12 speed 156tq. It lasted about 1 year for steering and had to send it back to get repaired under warranty. Now it is my throttle servo. I have also read that a dig. server is bad because it uses more Juice, but with todays battery in the 1200mah+ range that may not be a facter much anymore. If you can afford it get the Air 94358. I got mine on ebay for $55 in almost new condition.

i had the 358.. didnt like it.. too slow in steering.. so i got the 357

i dont like aluminum clutches.. heating.. and too much maintnence.. great punch and all that.. but too much work for them

For te servos run Airtronics as follows and you will NEVER be disappointed: for throttle Airtronics 94357Z ERG-VR Hi-Speed/Hi-Torque 125 oz/in (response time is 0.06 sec at 6 volts) and steering Airtronics 94358Z ERG-VR Hi-Speed/Hi-Torque 200 oz/in @ 0.10 sec @ 6 volts. I run the 200 oz servos for steering in all my cars minus my B4 buggy which I run the 125 oz high response servo because I like to have the lighting response and the lower torque does not make much of a difference because the buggy is lighter.

I have run the Hitec and JR lines all in the high end and while they are all good servos the extra money is worth it to step up to the Airtronics in the long run. The price does hurt but they are the standard for a reason....they are just that good and reliable.

I agree.. cuz in the time you will be sending stuff back.. and waiting for them to be returned.. you will be much happier with the airtronics stuff..
