I picked up a set of screws from a not so LHS.
The set looked good in the package so I purchased it and went home to install them in my virgin Storm Pro Kit.

As I started installing the first few screws I noticed the Allen wrench was way sloppy inside the hole. I was using my trusty set of Dynamite wrenches that I have grown to love (SAE). I assumed that the screws were metric at that point and grabbed my Ofna set of Metric wrenches. I had the same sloppiness inside the screw cap. Hummmm. Ok, the screw set came with its own set of wrenches, the little L style ones. I inserted the wrench with the same result.

At this point I decided to take out the 5-6 screws I replaced. Well not good news. 3 of them striped at the cap while removing them. 3 hours, 2 drill bits and an extractor later I got them removed. Lost in the battle is a $20.00 front diff brace.

$24.00 for the screws and $20.00 for the brace later I have a hand full of feathers.

I called the long distance phone number listed on their website and got an answering machine. The website states a 100% guarantee so lets see what happens.

Has anyone had any experience good or bad with this company?

I just hope he doesn't have a brother.

I've never dealt with RCScrewz, but I've bought my share of crappy screw kits.... I started to just by em seperate from McMaster.com... Better quality..
A great tip to get out a stripped screw, rather than try to drill/extract it, is too make a slot in the head of the screw with a cutting wheel on a dremel.. Then use a small flathead screw driver to loosen it up... Always works for me...

wasn't there a suggestion about putting JB in the wallowed out head and using an L wrench (disposable) to get those out? I think Woodie posted that, but I might be wrong. The slot method is definately faster though.

I got a RcSrewz set also. Definately not impressed with the quality either. Nothing more frusterating than having the head strip out.

What set did you get.
You said you weren't impressed, please be more specific.

I have a call in to the company and would like to be as constructive as possible and see what they have to say.

I'm all in favor of small business and like to offer positive feedback to the operators, not just call and complain.

Thanks,
Ed.

That sucks to hear, Eddy. They were a recommended source weeks ago and I added them to my links page.

I've removed their link from the page.

Or we'll call it a suspension pending RCNT hearing.

I have read a lot of good things about their products as well, thats why I'm miffed. I'm sure if the product was bad, we would have heard about it. I'm wondering if they changed suppliers to save money or got back ordered and used a secondary supplier.

I will have more info when they call me back.

I have the set for the Hyper PBS. Problem #1 no screws for the spider diff. They can't find them anywhere on the planet. Would have been nice to know before I purchased, beings that was the screw I really needed. They have promised to send them out when they find them.#2 the screws I have used, are hit or miss on quality. Like previously posted, the holes for the allen key are not very consistant. Some screws no biggie, motor mounts and others its a royal pain. For $24plus shipping I would have expected alittle better.

i was contemplating getting one of their screw kits. i think i may hold off. i too bookmarked the site when it came up.

does any other company offer screw sets for a wide array of different RC's?

Rob, I found this somewhere. sent an email asking if they make one for the hyper. haven't heard back yet. the prices seem alittle better too. atleast for the kits listed. www.ufss.com/retail/

I can vouch for the T-Maxx screw kit from UFSS. That is the item I won at the bash. Top quality screws.

U never heard of this? Wow! I've been doing that all my life, even before RC.\

Golden horizons makes a generic screw set that i have used now for close to a year. Have bought two packages of them - and they come with all the standard sizes. Fits every screw on my NTC3, and most on my storm (cept for the big ones). I will stop by my LHS and find out where they get them from.

cost was about 20.00 and u get about 50 of them.

I have heard of doing this but I have never tried it. I have always used an extractor. The issue here was the location. they were countersunk into the chassis.

I still haven't heard from screwz yet.
================================
I lied, well I didn't check my messages before this post.
He did call and gave me his cell phone number. He is attending a trade show and asked me to call him.

So far Customer service is good. Lets see how it plays out.
Ill keep you informed.

mcmaster.com is sweet but you end up with like 50-100 of the same type of screw (not a bad thing reall). it only costs like $5 and that's great, but you have to pay for shipping and wait each time you need a different type of screw. i do not doubt the quality though. i was thinking about rounding up all the screws my buggy and buying them all at once. i would have a huge ass screw set. that might be a winter project

Thanks for the list SDMaXX. Did you find that somewhere else or did you compile that list yourself?

Hey thanks, i made list with some help of other people, but it also added some of my input in there. That should be the whole screw kit for a maxx.
