One more method that I use is to tie a peace of fishing line around the wire and pull it threw. Simple as cake.

bam..got some good news, and some bad news. good news is that the 18t is finally up and running again. had to get some new main diff gears. bad news is that it still pops at the slightest reverse movement, and sometimes when i go forward. anyone help me please??

Overly tight wheel nuts? Did you make sure the driveline rotates freely with the pinion removed? Sounds like you might have a bit of grit or maybe a slightly mangled spur gear...

Other than that :shrug:. Tracking noises in these little animals is just about as challenging as chasing down a knock in a 1:1.
 
ill go take a better look at the spur and pinion later. i just had it out again, and when i turn it at high speed it'll pop sometimes, too

Very easily. You ask good questions and want to know the answeres we can share. You also go out and drive your trucks instead of leaviong them on the shelf and just taking them down to dust and polish them.
