Ok everyone....i have a new project. My kid wants to get my old rc10T up and running...and his bday comes up in april. i have not run this car in over 20 years....see pictures below. we currenty have a traxxas revo 3.3, slash 4x4 running 3s lipos...but for some reason he wants to build this up. This car has no controller, no motor...bearing kit from what i can remember...

anyways..i need some help. can the stealth tranny hold up to a brushless? what brushless motor esc combo would be could for his setup? the car is super light so i think anything super powerful would be too much. I was thinking using the same setup i have for our traxxas, buti think it might be too much. see pictures and let me know....i appreciate your help.

I'm not sure about that tranny standing up to modern brushless power. Very cool project though, I always lusted over one of those back in the day.

It wont hold up to that kinda power i would just get a hot brushed motor keep the cost down and it'll still be fun.:D

any suggestions on a hot brushed motor and esc combo?

if i remember correctly that esc that i have (the novak), it doesn't have reverse...the truck needs to have reverse for my kid...i can't imagine him not having reverse....haha

Also, i need to get a cheap controller. what do you recommend for this esc motor combo...right now, the cost is up around 115 as you indicated...thanks again for the help

If your looking at tower they have futaba pistol grip 2ch you can get for under 100 for am bout 100 for fm i would probaly get the fm.Even though i had an old on road i put back together got the am works great $54 new i have always run futaba in my planes, boats, cars, and helies there very reliable and at a resonable price. That esc i told you about has reverse. hurry up get it done want to see some pics finished. I love vintage rides!:D

You can get a Spektrum DX3e 2.4 GHz for about the same price with an RX.

thanks everyone....I'm trying my best...my kids bday isnt until next month...i probably wont have it completed until then

still can't believe how well the bearings held up to the test of time....i installed an upgraded bearing kit throughout the entire car when i first got it and that thing still amazing me how well those front tires spin...i will keep you posted

do you think that this setup will be fast with a 2s?

I had built a RC10t this past summer with a hobbypartz BL system in, and it worked great.. I was running only a 10.5 system in it though and that trans held up great..I bought all my bearings from bocabearings.com, and used a hobbyking battery pack.you still can get alot of parts for them you just just have to know where to look for them..I also put SC10 cvds in the rear..:first_place:

do you have a link to that system you are referring too? I can't seem to find it?

Thanks for the help

I am hoping to buy all the parts this weekend

got a hold of team associated and they stated that this car can handle a brushless without issue, but keeping it below 4500kv...

what does everyone think?

i take that back...he said nothing above 400kv...do you think that was a typo

ok...so he meant 4900kv...haha:p:

ok for those Team EA parts I have those here if you want them? and for those bushings I would go with BEARINGS ;) that ez run from Hobbypartz will work I used this motor
http://www.hobbypartz.com/3650m-brushless-motor-rc-cars.html

and a alion(spelling)? speed control from ebay it was only 29.99 it was a 60amp

if you want those team EA parts LMk I will send them to ya..I'am going to be Selling of my rc10's chassis/parts soon lmk if you need anything..;):first_place:

Hey guys I'm new to this site and getting back into the hobby, this is crazy because I just dug out my early 90s associated RC10T, it's 100% stock even has the mechanical speed controller. So just to confirm you said this truck can handle brushless power below 4900kv or are you gona stay brushed?
