What is the best track/race tire set-up currently out there for my RC10GT? The track is a bit of everything-soft, semi-soft, and a few hard-packed straights. I'm thinking Bowties M2 or maybie Snake-Eyes in the rear and Blades or Edge up front. Total Newbie here too, but I just want the best tire set-up, maybe "it will help me drive better"!!

Thanks

Obviously the tires pictured on my truck at the left are no good for tracks! Great for backyard bashing though. I tried the rubber from my Rush Evo, and it was much better handling, but I feel they are probably low quality compared to a nice set of Pro-Lines

Badsneaker, sorry I can't help, but that's because I am struggling with very similar issues myself. If you wouldn't mind sharing what you settle on and the results you get, I'd appreciate it. Right now, I'm running Proline Pins on the rear and Losi ribbed on the front. I get excellent traction, but a lot of push through the turns, so I'm thinking my front tires aren't hooking up as well as I would like.

Good luck!

How dusty does your track get? You can look into Holeshots in M2 as well. They are the perfered tire at out track. I have M3 Holeshots,Bowties and a couple step pins that I will be testing on my track, i'll let ya know how each works out. As for fronts, i'm at a loss. i'm used to 4wd, so I will have to play with set-ups as well.

All this said, see who is winning at your track, befriend them, and ask them what they use!!!

Track is not too dusty Holeshots look good too. I haven't been to the track for a race, just practice but nobody is running 2wd. I plan on trying to get over there this Saturday to watch the race.

MW I noticed the same thing, major pushing in corners, must be 2wd issue. That and me not being a TA Team Driver!

If it's a mix of hard pack and loose stuff, I'd say something more on the lines of a square fuzzy if it's dry, or a step pin if its' moist.

Now, for the front, Edges all the way. The only time you want to use blades is on total hardpack. The foams that come with the tires should be more than sufficient.

edit; for the pushing, the only advise I can give you is to set a little drag brag; not a lot, just a little. Just enough to say that its' barely engaged (about two turns of the nut from the brakes completely disengaged). That should help with the push a little bit. You can also try one step down on the springs on the front.

edit2; final edit, i promise, lol. On the rcdocuments site, there is a setup book posted that will explain EVERY adjustment on the gt.

OK so definitely lined up with Edge on front. Maybe go with Step Pin for starters, I have a set of Gladiators mounted on some RPM wheels that the truck came with when purchased, maybe bring those to the track too.

Never hurts to come perpared.1/10 tires are cheap to pick up a couple pairs to try out...al least compared to MT and 1/8 tires....lol

Yeah seeing what the local fast guys run is ALMOST always your best bet. They know the track in the morning and later in the day it can change. At mine sometimes a steppin works in the early rounds when it may be a bit wet, but by later in the day youneed a shorter pin type tread.

Let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

BTW, what truck setup are you using?
