which is a faster, better truck, the rc10gt, or the mt2? I want a truck that is fast and can jump good, i know that they are about the same size, but the mt2 is 4wd so i don't know if that will make it faster on the track or not?

by the way does anyone know the top speed of either the mt2 or the rc10gt?

When I First started out on nitro r/c's about 2 years ago, I was always told that its the gearing. And its very true. Do you want to go fast and have slow pick up, Or quick pick up and not a blazing fast speed. The MT2 will go faster out of the box with the new engine they just put in it. But the GT has so many hop ups out for the truck. The 4WD Makes the MT2 Very easy to control, The GT you will have to learn a little throttle control because its 2wd. I Wish the best in your search for an r/c.

I think it all depends if your track has rules about running 2wd and 4wd trucks.
I like both trucks. The MT2 will be an awesome basher and handles great on a track. I'm considering one for myself. If your track only allows 2wd, the GT will work out great for you.

It depends if you bashing at a track or racing. Most ST's (if not all besides the MT2) are 2wd and I doubt you can race with 2wd ST's with it.

If your going to bash, then the MT2 would be the one I'd choose because of the 4wd. Fast, light, durable and newera has about every aluminum aftermarket part you could want for it.

I still havent raced my GT in the 4 years i have had it. Don't think its legal to race a .21 stadium truck is it?

For racing (ROAR), No .21Rc10GT. But If you just want to have fun It will be cool, Just remember this, Before you throw all that cash into the kit, Just remember that it will be a pain in the @$$ to drive. Lots of throttle control, Or else you will just be wasting tires and doing donuts and fish tails. IMO.

Uhhh I have had the Hyper 8 port in there for more than a year now. Only problem with it so far was the steel spur gear chewing up clutch bells. Switched to a hardend clutch bell, still the same problem. Switched to a plastic spur and bam! No more problems! It is actually easy to drive. If you don't control the throttle, then it flips real easy, same with high speed runs, it just starts takin off the ground like a plane till it flips a million times! Walks away unharmed.

How's the driveline holding up? I'm assuming your running some type of slipper? You have cvd's or what?

Just curious.

I posted my nitro MT for sale, but no takers, so I'm going to more than likely work on it as money allows. I'm going to find a way to fit the MT2 front end on so I can have a bumper of some sort. After that, I'm also going to try the MT2 slipper setup.

Reading the parts lists, the MT2 and MT both run the same parts for the diff's and I was afraid I'll chew them up with my OS 18 that I put on it... but if yours is holding up with a 21, then I don't think I have to worry much :).

Oh yeah, make some more vids of that thing! It's cool to see how fast it goes.

I really have never clocked it, but this thing is damn fast! I have the full robinson racing tranny setup and MIP cvds. So far, nothing has broken in the drivetrain except the roll pins in the axles. But i found solid ones and have not broken one since. Just for people who are wondering: pieces of paper clips do not work as axle pins. I know from experience. When you dont have the parts you go looking for something else. LOL

I am going to try to get some videos up of this and my maxx, but i have to get a friend to get it on camera! I have some pics of my GT, but they are kinda fuzzy, so I'm going to try to get some new ones soon. I run my slipper all the way tightend up.

Yeah, i dont have any spare allen drivers (or i didnt at the time) and the drill bits were too hard to cut with pliers (didnt have dremel) so i went for paper clips.

I really like my GT. It was even fun with the stock .15. It was my first nitro r/c car, and it went through a beating! With the .21 on there it is even more fun. I let some of my friends drive it after i stuck the .21 on her and they were so impressed they wanted me to build em one. I only have one .21 engine mount left! Well 2, but one is a spare.

what kind of engine is the .21? is it easy to install or did you have hell trying to get it to fit? also what was the price on it?

Traxxas Revo...like it alot

It is an Ofna Hyper 8 Port. It was really easy putting in. The hyper cost me about $150 on Tower, but that was a while ago, they have gone way down. You can get a new one on ebay for like $120 with a pull start. The only thing is, you have to run a traxxas clutch setup with the flywheel, clutch, and clutchbell, which is a stronger setup than stock. Then i just had to flip the throttle servo around to set it up for the slide carb and i was set. It is a really reliable engine. The exhaust all you have to do is cut the header in half. It was really easy, and my GT had all of the hopped up tranny gears and everything else, so all i had to do was drop the engine in, and with the mounts that i have, it makes it really easy to do. I will post a pic in a day or two.

i agree with .21Rc10GT the rc10 in my opinion is a pretty good truck for speed.

As i said, when it was stock, it was really durable (considering i was a total newb and i bash the heck outta it!). That thing took a beating! Fast enough to race, and there are endless gearing options for it. Endless amounts of hop-ups in that matter.

Sweet. I will have to get my pics of my rc10gt up on rcpics.net. I'll post em here tonight or tomorrow.

In terms of durable - I havent broke a part yet on the MT2 and my brother in law has replaced several parts on his RC10GT. The MT2 is built heavier (and it does weigh a considerable amount more than the GT), but its heavier because its stronger. Its also slower right in stock form. Although racing around on flat dirt (like doing laps on a baseball diamond) the MT2 is easier to drive at top speed.

I was disappointed in the MT2 until I put the 18SS into it. Now I'm VERY happy :)
