Background: My brother, who is currently incarcerated, said I could have his RC10GT but that it might need some work. He loved this thing before he went in and had to sell most of his RC stuff and part some things out for fees he had.

His wife just filed for divorce with only 2 months left in his sentence, so to help him get his mind of that stuff, I want to fix up his RC and send him pictures of the build and give it back to him when he gets out......

Project: So I got a tote from his storage with this beast in it... I have no idea what I'm doing... but always like new projects... I can't believe all the parts to this thing, I would rather re-build the transfer case in my jeep then to mess with a shock on this thing.

The only label on the frame says RC10GT Team Associated. It has a blue anodized frame and the motor says Team Associated 15 on it. It has two servos on it, no fuel tank or lines, no clutch and the front sterring is not hooked up to anything. Wiring is a mess. I'm going to try and take pictures....

Is this the best place on getting this thing back together or is there a dedicated forum for these? I searched google but this thing kind of looks like a classic so there might not be anything new for them.

Any help would be appreciated.

first off we need some pics. there are many a guys on here that have owned an rc10 and could help you out. if the chassis is blue, then its the newer rc10, and not the old gold tub vintage.

parts are pretty cheep for them as well. i would suggest upgrading the engine to a O.S 18 cv-rx. it will absolutely SCREAM with that engine.

But get some pics posted up so we can see what you have and dont have. I'm sure we can help you help your brother out

i own an RC10GT so i could help you out just message me

OR just post on this and we all can help out.

Thank you for all the responses... Ill try to get pics up soon.

I did take it to a local hobby shop today and I at looks like my chassis is tweaked. Any ideas where I can get a replacement one?

Also, the Glow plug air filter has been off for some time, how do I check to make sure that the engine is still good before I put to much time, money into this?

Crank it up? see how tough it is to spin the flywheel. Tougher is better. this rig is cheap ehough to probably go ahead and get a whole new one, and throw some hopups onto it, and really give him a good surprise.

get some pictures and i can give you a hand...need pics first tho

Okay.... let see if this works...

I would say if your comfortable with it get the parts from ebay.

The rear shocks are in different holes. Probably because one is stripped (need new mounts) I would recommend getting RPM A arms all the way around they are strong as hell. Also Probably need a bearing kit and a screw kit just to revive the car.

Alot of parts for the RC10gt2 will interchange with the GT. Hope this helps! :)

dude!! that chassis isnt tweaked.. its bent in half!!!!

looks like your gonna have to drop back and punt. i would find a nice roller off ebay and get that, (if the motor is good) or bite the bullet and buy a new one, then move the good stuff off this one onto the new one. (looks like you have rpm rear arms already)

how much are you looking to spend on it?

Thanks for all the replies.... I dont think I really want to spend more then a $100 or so... I may just try and find a "roller" and just put the good parts together. I'm going to add up the list above and see what it would be. I would like to keep as many of the parts of this one as I can... but I understand if its to shot... tx

EDIT: h8z2luze, I really appreciate all the effort you put into that list, I'm sure that took a while....

ok, lets see....you need a new pullstart, a new chassis, air filter, clutch (id go with the MIP 4-n-1), a clutch bell, fuel tank, fuel line, and a steering servo. you can get all your parts from...
team associated
or from Tower Hobbies
or just go to your LHS and see if they have somethin for ya (mabe you can get a good deal)

No problem and ya that chassis is bent I didnt notice that haha. Wow I feel like a moron. You might be able to fix all that for under 100 bucks but do like you say and get a roller.

Looks like your bro got his moneys worth outta that rig! Part that thing out! Just look for a roller that has the parts your missing, combine the two and rip it. You could start work on the motor. If it sat with the air filter off, that could mean a tear down, cleaning and resealing. Pretty easy stuff that will keep ya busy and light a fire under ya while you wait for that roller.

Does anybody have any docs or writeups on a motor tear down?

moter teardowns are fairly easy look for a video on youtube of a teardown....my friend squirel did a great one

i striped my rc10gt to make my custom build and i am only using the front suspension steering servo transmission and rear shock tower
everything else is off and in a drawer sitting next to my workbench
can I've it to you for a reasonable price email me
