I like my RC10Gt, spanko123's comments notwithstanding. But I went to the track last night and drove 4 tanks for practice, and stayed for a few minutes to watch the races. It was soon clear that the Losi xxxnt has a handling advantage. The rc10 understeers bad in comparison. The losis were cornering like they were on aspault, sticking to the inside line and turning inside the rc10's. I would have been lapped in 3 minutes.

I'm going to try Holeshot tires and softer front springs, does anyone have any other handling tips?

The XXX is a far Superior truck.
The CG is lower and it has less chassis / parts flex. The Drake uses graphite parts to further reduce the flex.

You are headed in the right direction. Look to see what tires are the track favorite and what springs are being used. If you still have a lit of trigger leftover you may want to gear different. smaller bell by a tooth or two or a larger spur. A lot of turns are better controlled by working the trigger on the power side rather than having to slow down with the brakes.

Try using a bit of "Drag Brake" if you let completely off the trigger it will apply just the smallest amount of braking. If you are going into a turn to quickly you can let off the trigger and decelerate without having to use the brake.you will come out of the turn faster and smoother and also have better steering control.

Go get several sets of springs and keep trying. Don't forget the role that shock oil plays as well.

Thanks Eddy, our advanced age has led to much wisdom. Too bad we won't be able to remember it much longer.

Brake drag sounds like a good idea. I have the brakes set for no drag so I don't endo over the jumps at my house, but I'm going to try it.

Thanks again Eddy!

spanko, I'm just observing that you didn't like the rc10 breaking parts in your thread. BTW, I put on a carbon fiber rear shock tower, and havent broken a part in 2 months.

Well, the GT is based off of the RC10 T2 truck.. which is way behind the XXX losi's.. also.. the XXX is way in advance of the T3, AE released the T4 and B4 to compete with the XXX, the thing was.. AE was ahead of Losi in the rc world for a long time.. when AE released the B3 and T3, losi was still using the XX line of cars.. then ROAR changed the rules.. allowing more with, and length.. then losi released the new XXX line.. and it was alot wider, and longer.. than the AE 3 series.. which is why the XXXNT is better than the GT.. the GT is way behind in the offroad department.. i see AE releasing a new GT4 soon.. and hope.. hope that they have a upgrade kit for the GT.. cuz the B4 and T4 use the older GT style tranny..

oh alright scott i see what you saying and thats prety cool, but no i love the rc10 gt such a sweet car ya no, ok see ya(cept gay plastic)

Ahhhhhhh.........more of the Losi vs. GT comments. Just remember which one of the aforementioned brands has been the ROAR national champion for not 1....not 2......but 3 years...... the GT.....junk, outdated or shall we say "too simple"?......hardly.....just ask Billy Easton, Jared Tebo,Travis Amezcua and countless others . And while I'm on the subject, Jared kicked plenty of Losi tail all year in 03'. I personally saw him put a royal spankin on em' at St. Louis, Mo. in August...... Nuff said....:preachin:......now before eveyone gets their tailfeathers ruffled, the Losi is a good truck too....I've driven them both, but I wanted to make sure ya'll showed the "ole' GT" the respect it deserves.

I aint doggin the truck.. i agree.. Drake won the pro series.. but i agree.. the GT is still good.. but i think it needs to be wider..

wider......

the widening problem is easily fixed with just a few dollars worth of mods....bolt on stuff......:shhh: ....don't tell anyone tho....he he

Ricky Carmichal could probably win a supercross on my '01 RM250. That doen't mean I can't go out and buy a new cycle that will work better than my old bike. I like my RC10, but there is no doubt in my mind that Losis handle better at my local track.

I have both the GT and a Drake. I prefer the Drake. Its seems a lot tighter on the small tracks. Graphite?

I have lost interest in 2wd off road and am selling both of them. I have a deal pending on the Drake roller and will post a fully RPMd GT next week. Did I mention it has an RC-solutiond front skid? Roller or full I'm not sure yet.

Again as a poopy driver I prefer the Losi.

the rc10 is a fun car, a group of us run dirt during the day and put foam or rubber tires on, re-gear it and change the suspension set up a lil and we're running an on-road track at night ( since there's no lights in the dirt but lights in the on-road). I went rpm hop-ups with the factory team and the only thing i break are AA battery packs. Would going with rechargables solve the problem?

Let's see.......save alot of money in the long run, more servo power, not to mention much safer than a dry cell holder......yep....go with a 5 cell hump pack/charger and you'll be glad you did.....

I'd have to say I am a lone XXNT guy with 3 GT racers in the family and my NT will drive circles around them GT's......even with their .21's and ported .15's.....mine is bone stock RTR .....

but seriously.....on a larger more WFO track the GT is faster but when it gets tight they don't have a chance
