Hey Everyone!

Anyone ever been to or participated in an RC swap meet?

Do you have personal experience about what you were looking for? Or maybe how you setup and priced your items?

Just this past weekend one was announced at a convention center in my neighborhood (huge win). After a short time to think it over I put down the thirty dollar fee to secure a table.

I usually sell online through Kijiji (Our Craigslist), eBay or at last resort FB Marketplace. This seems like a prime opportunity to have a captive audience!

So when I go through my stuff I have a entry level Proboat I have never used and that CC-02 Bronco I am aiming to get rid off. Both I am going to try and have RTR and anchor my table with.

The boat goes for $179 +tax locally, it has gone on sale for 99 which is when I picked it up.
I am thinking $80?

The CC-02 is a tough one. I want to price it to sell but I still want to extract some cash from it. I am thinking $420 obo? The kit is $409 + tax. Too much? Chat says start at $425 lol

Almost every upgrade you can buy is in here and it only has one full run under it's belt.

I have a ton of other stuff too like brushless motors, tires, wheels, accessories and new take off tires & electronics.

I don't know the dimensions of the table but I assume it will be a standard full size folding table. It's unclear if one is provided but I have if needed.

I happen to be at the local mall recently day when a vendor exhibit was shutting down. I noticed how everyone had there stuff break down on to moving carts or wheelers.

I plan on bringing everything in a giant Rubbermaid I can wheel with my two wheeler in case I have to park a mile or two away.

I am thinking I should have some bags for people, boxes for the vehicle/boat and a small float of basically 5's and 10's.

These don't happen often, nor do I think I would be attending regularly, so I don't want to spend a ton on setup. But I am thinking I need a small pegboard or something to help display smaller items in bags so it doesn't take up all the space. I dunno

Suggestions welcome!!!

I've been to a few vendor's rows which sound very similar to the swap meet setup

pics for less typing, its just the general way i personally see them set up, but i also only attend 3-4 events a year.

from a customer standpoint i LOVE when theres a simple to see price and dont have to ask hey how much for this or that, ill often just set it down, if i gotta ask i probly can't afford it lol

Dude, thanks for the photos and suggestions!

I was thinking about having the Bronco on a rotating stand, but I'll use scale jack stands!

I also had the idea of making price tags and or description tags that have the price; just makes it easier for everyone.

I have a few things I was thinking of putting out every now and then as just free items.
Bodies I got in trades or purchases that I have no need for. Or perhaps I did something custom for a project I no longer have so it has post holes and such.

They have no value to me and I need to clean up anyway.

give the freebies to kids that pass if there are any, that would make it feel cool for you both id think, my son doesn't care what it is when someone offers him a free item from their booth he is stoked ( i often end up buying something from them as well honestly)
the jack stands 4 the win bro!!

I love that idea!

Edit/Update:

I'm trying to decide what tires to put in it.

Those Duratracs were about the right size, but they're actually a decent tire. These BFG's, not so much. They're nice looking but didn't provide much traction when I tried them.

Do you guys think they look too big?

Also, the center caps, what do we think?
Leave them, take em off, spray em black?

The tires just clear the front fender and bumper cycling through the suspension; without trimming this is as big as you can go.

I've been to a few as a buyer only. The only thing that I've brought home recently was a Team Associated RC10 B6.3. Traded it for an SCX24. Working on the buggy he probably got a better deal $ for $, but I wasn't using the SCX and wanted it gone. At least I want the buggy.

Bags and boxes are a nice touch, but probably unnecessary.

BTW what's with the tax? If I buy a lawn mower from my neighbor, he doesn't charge me tax. It was already taxed when you bought it. Even in Tax-Centric California it's OK. I asked AI about Canada and it's says your good, but it's AI so ALWAYS question the answers.

Sorry for the confusion, I was just listing current retail prices and that there would be taxes on those numbers IF THE products were bought new.

So add 12% to the listed retail price.

Whenever I buy something used or are comparing prices I factor that into the equation; IE if it's a good deal or not

Update:

Went to grab supplies

I was initially thinking cork board, but beside it Walmart had these project stands. It was less money. Pins to clip things along the top, packing tape cause I am out, post it notes for information/pricing and Fisherman's Friend because my young one is sick so now we are all also sick 👍🏼👍🏼

And lots of cleaning of things I want to unload.

Donuts anyone?

No worries, just confused me. I was like, "Man those Canadians are diligent with their taxes.

Best of luck there. You look very prepared!

Thanks man!

I'm trying to be as prepared as possible. There is only one hour for setup so I literally want to roll in and be ready with a plan.

So far it's been going well. Here's some of the progress and a small sample:

We've got some new stuff, some new take offs, and some things that are lightly used.

Just finished getting my table setup Still waiting for others to setup. Doors open in half an hour.

I am center of the image, beside the empty table with the poster board/sign.

Thanks! And the venue is beyond nice!

Already a line up to get in 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Would you mind telling everyone who's selling a Kyosho...
I LOVE IT!!! I'll have 3 of each please!!! 😍🤣

Looks like a great place to spend a few hours! I would get in so much trouble there... 🙄😲🤣

Have fun! Good luck with your sales! 👍

Yup, she's pretty empty. 😍

My goal of coming home with nothing didn't work out, but that's okay! I scored some great deals!!

I bought a tire warmer setup and a Castle motor from the table to my left that filled in and a Reefs Servo along with a rtr mini SCT from the table to my right lol

All for $180 bucks!

The Castle motor I already had on my Wish List at the LHS, saved a $120 bucks there.

The tire warmers I was looking at after this winters indoor comps where the "barn" was freezing. 🥶
The winner of my glass at my first event was running an almost stock Stance; He kept his tires warm.

And the Short Course Truck is a Losi Mini SCT in Rockstar livery. I had this body on a different mini back in the day, when I seen the rig complete with box I thought it would be a good grab.

After getting it home it looks basically new, everything is there including the tools, extra rtr parts and the manual. It even had a lipo tucked inside which, if its good is probably worth most of the purchase price of 60 bucks.

Score!!!

The Results:

First off, I am so happy to have executed exactly (basically) how I envisioned it. I was missing a few things because I was out of Chat processing to make more logos and whatnot.

But I got a lot of compliments on my booth and the Bronco setup on the mirror; it drew a lot of attention which is what I was after.

- CC-02 w/ 2 lipos - $450
- Vanquish Yoko H10 New T/O tires - $20
- VP New T/O servo - $10
- Reedy New T/O servo - $10
- Injora TRX4-M Flex blades, new - $10
- OnPoint Driver Set, new - $20
- Furitek motors x2 - $10/ea
- Proboat JetWave? (I think) New, Unused - $60
- Losi 1/16 Drag Car Roller - $20

I'm sure I am missing stuff I sold.

I also had a free area where I gave away some bodies, foams and HotWheels to the littlies.

I also bought a diecast car from another booth when my wife and son came by for a bit.

All and all it was a great experience!
I more than covered my cost of entry ($30) and I scored some great deals!! Plus it was really nice to see everyone in a much more casual setting.

If you have the chance I recommend checking one of these out if it pops up in your area! 🙂
