Hello guys,

Have any of you seen to TopGear (yes I know they rag on the septics all the time) episode where they drove a big jeep over a lake in norway
I was wondering if you got those sand grabbing tyre things bolted them onto an 4WD rc and see if it would work?
anyone want to try it and see?
Oh and please tape the first run just incase it goes wrong, people on here would love to see that!

thanks

I guess its possible but i wouldnt do it with my nitro. Maybe if you get a waterproof electric that is very fast it might work.

Are you implying it floated and used the tires as paddles? I haven't seen this topgear vid so.... Or did it go so fast it "skipped" or did it act like a snowmobile... I know they call it skipping but high power snowmobiles don't skip they can damn near stop and as long as they're in the throttle it'll stay up...

here is the video he is refering to. i bet a BL revo with paddles would do it. (skip to 2:45 for the goods, and 4:20 for the "race")

you can see at the end of the second run, the jeep sinks a little right at the end. verifying the water is actually deep.

I've done it on my old quad. (Honda 450r with honda CBR 600 motor on it,) with paddles in the rear, and slicks in the front. It was only like 25 foot across the pond, but it was like 8 ft deep.

That's awesome. I think its more then possible but good luck controlling your rc when it hits the water and I think a second gear shift might F ya.

what I'm gonna try when i get the money is take out the front driveshaft if its 4wd and make it 2wd, buy the skis from i think ffrc or something like that and put pro-line paddles on the back and i think it would just cruise right along! in a few weeks ill maybe post a vid if i get the money!

Could always tie your money to a rock and see if it skips! I predict the same outcome. Except for the fact that your money will be somewhere you may be able to find it!

That would be great, I would love to see that!

You do it.....I'll buy the beer and watch.:D

ME!?!?!?!
I dont even have an offroader atm I can't possible do it >.<

with a waterproof rig i dont see what it would hurt to try. although you may not have enough power unless you go brushless. is there any waterproof brushless setups? a brushless revo or emaxx, maybe even a truggy.. would probably be able to do this no problem
