RC Driving Style
My Friend and I were driving my buggy in his backyard, as well as in the backyard of some vacant houses.
Everything was going great until my friend turned the buggy sharply.
The buggy caught air and headed straight for a pond of water!
I ran over and pulled it out as quickly as I could. It appeared that only the nose had been submerged.
We air-dried as much of the electronics as we could except for the receiver.
The receiver had no signs of water on it so we assumed it was fine.
When we were finished, we took it back outside and began running the buggy on asphalt.
I was about to bring it back in when, all of a sudden, the receiver gave out.
The buggy took off down the road at almost full power!
My friend and I gave chase as it miraculously dodged trees, walls, cars and anything else in front of it!
It finally made it onto the yard of a neighbor's house and took out one of their lawn lights as it headed towards the front door!
I managed to grab the buggy before it had a chance to get to the door.
It was definitely one of the craziest chases I have been involved in.
My friend felt bad and has offered to pay for a replacement receiver.
However, I do not want to charge him some outrageous amount as he is my friend.
Do any of you know where I can find a reasonably priced receiver?

Sorry for my grammer. I was just trying to get it typed fast. After it went in the water, and i dried out the servos (because the throttle didnt work) everything worked. so i decieded to drive test it around in the street only going 40-60 feet out, when i lost signal and it ran away. So i cleaned inside the reciever box blew dry it, and everything and it still didnt work.Thats when i came on the foruums. In a last ditch effort I took the reciever out, let it dry, then i used a blow dryer to finish drying it. Now it works , but i am afraid to drive it again in fear of it losing signal.

Turn on the TX and RX but do not start your engine. Have your RC buddy hold the car and start walking away from you. Work the throttle and steering while he continues putting distance between yourselves. This will test your radio range and if you have any glitching or malfunction your buddy will be able to see it.

great idea i didnt even think of that. i was thinking drive it back and forth between me and him and if it takes off stop it, but your idea is much better. Also i have one quik question. I have to give it about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to start it, and if i let it idle (when it flips or sumthing) for 3 seconds it dies. Then if it dies half way through the tank its almost impossible to start again i can't figure it out.

1. always range check your radio with the engine off. That means, turn the radio on. Turn the car on. Check the steering and throttle. Do this with the radio antenna down. Then walk away from the car to see how far you can go before you lose reception. You're gonna need a friend to help there. You should get around 200-300 feet before you lose reception.

2. Suck it up and buy a failsafe. That should be one of the first things you put in a nitro car. That way if anything happens for any reason your car will stand less chance of damage. Oh, and get a throttle return spring also.
