Yep, at least sort of, I immediately emailed the Traxxas announcement to my main Traxxas sales guy, and told him I wanted to get one of each on order. He emailed me back that he was on it. Lol

Besides new aluminum bits, it’s got a much bigger motor and it’s now 4S.

A 540 is a 3650?
This thing could boast a 3660 but it has some plastic driveshafts? Good thing it’s 4s

That’s pretty much what it is, except the 4S motor, I don’t think the Slash ultimate has a motor this big.

Correct the slash ultimate has the same ole normal vxl 3s motor which is 540.

The 540 "XL" is 2400kv with 6.5mm bullets. Traxxas is always hush hush on their specs but I think it's around a 3668-3670 motor making it a true 550. Don't know why they call it 540 XL

The normal 3500kv VXL (3s max and 3.5mm bullets) is about 3656 so technically not a real 540... Just a stretched 540 but not truly 550 either Weird...

540 is anything 3650-3659 length/width
550 is anything 3660-3670 length/width

There's also F540s that I believe @Greywolf74 talked about in a different thread and it's not a true 540 it's actually smaller I think. F540s are mostly found in/on cheaper offbrand electronics.

For $650, yeah heck no. Traxxas has lost their pricing minds.
They look sick though. I couldn't afford a replacement body though so I'd hate to trash the stock ones.

For me, it'd be Arrma Mojave 6S all day. Heck save up another $50 to get the Maxx Slash or $100 to get the UDR. Much better deals to be had.

I'm with @luke66 on this one. For $650, I would get a Mojave, a used Tekno ET48 to make an SCT48, or just simply something WORTH that amount of money. It has plastic driveshafts man, c'mon. All I am saying is, I can already tell that there are better things out there for less.

Plastic driveshafts look nice to you? (that is the part that upsets me in case you haven't noticed)
Buy the body and mount it to something reliable.

The Mojave body on a solidly reliable chassis looks pretty good to me.
