I'm in the process of building my truugy for the track. I have never been racing before.
What are a few things i should do before i go? What should i bring?
Also i here people talking about pitting. I though there was someone to launch your car and turnmarshal thats it. What does the pit man do?

I believe the pitman refuels your vehicle or restarts it if he has to... He also can repair it if it needs something done quickly...

I'm not allowed to touch my car inbetween mains?

Your pit man just refuels your car, restarts and drops your car at the start of the car. You only run one main after your qualifyers.

What you should bring with you to a race is ...
  • fuel bottle
  • food/beverage
  • Extra glow plugs
  • frequently broken parts (suspension, drive train, a-arms, shock towers, fuel tank, spare servos , etc)
  • pit towel
  • tools
  • table
  • canopy
  • gloves for marshalling
  • dc charger
  • extra batteries

There's probably more that I forgot but the others will fill in what I have left out.

Since this is your first time racing, just remember, when qualifying you're running against the clock. Try to keep your runs clean and stay in the middle of the track. Try to stay off your lid and give courtesy to the faster guy. If he wants to pass, let him. If you can get out of the way, do it otherwise just keep your line and let him go around you.

When the track is open for practice, get as much practice time in as you can. This will allow you to familliarize yourself with the track and make mental notes. It will also allow you to make adjsutments to the r/c. Don't forget to take a frequency clip when practicing and return it when you're done.

I will akip table and tent. They have a pit area where i want to race. I have no clue what i break its the trucks first time out. The cary mbx5 prospec parts so i will take money just in case. I can practice every weekday except friday! Thanks diver!

Well, suspension parts, bulkheads, shock towers ... those should be in your toolbox. It's good that they have a hobby store on the premesis but not all tracks are like that and those that have an LHS have rediculous prices to match. I should know! Sl0eg1n and I have enough parts in our toolbox to build another car, LITERALLY! We bought another S710 because it was cheaper than buying the parts individually. We just replace as we break.

dont forget a few different sets of tires to choose from as track conditions change. the more the track is run on, the drier, and dustier it will get. bring a folding chair, extra glow ignitor, plenty of fuel (i burnt over 1500cc in 2 cars today), different channel crystals, extra air filters, a rag to wipe yourself and car off with.

I have an M11 on order. Tons of glow ignitors, i have to get the chair...

Take everything you would if you would travel to go bashing. That and like was said you need more than one freq. Nothing like getting to the main and haveing conflicts with other drivers on your freq. Tires mean soooo much in off-road racing. If you only have one set, find out what the other drivers are running(winners!) and go from there.

Everything else was covered.........just have fun! Most "bashers" find it diffacult to drive on a track at 1st,but getting to/on the track on the weekdays will help more than ANYTHING else.

OHH, and just remember....HAVE FUN!!! Some people take this to heart WAY too much. Some people will gripe and complain, but most of the guys at the track will help with most anything. There are a few at my track that I wish they would do what they say and go somewhere else.............but most will help ya. Before the race, ask around about Marshaling, some tracks have different rules for it than others. Such as fixing(ball cups) on the track if you can, or just putting the truck aside for driver/pitman.

Yes, FUN is the ultimate name of the game. I have been to one too many races where someone was treating the days event like it was NASCAR. Funny thing is that it usually isn't a trophy race!

In general, most people are friendly and willing to help. If it is your first time at that track, just ask what the track etiquette is there. Most of the information will be given at the drivers meeting so pay attention.

Just about the most important point was made right here /\ don't take it too seriously, when all is said and done we are just racing toy cars. (albeit stupidly expensive ones)

We had a guy going completely nutso at our club meeting yesterday, his face went purple and he wanted to fight the world. His face when I told him I couldn't believe how uptight he got over playing with toy cars, in a field, on a sunny sunday afternoon was a picture. ha ha ha

Couldn't have said it better myself.....they ARE TOYS!!!!!

Exactly!!! Some people take it too seriously... Especially if they can't take a loss... LOL There is only one winner in a race...
