RC Driving Style
I am thinking about racing at a local track but I don't know how the jato would compare to the comp. It's all stock other than some dirt tires.

if you are just begining just test out some tires and learn how to set it up and just out drive everyone.

The jato seems pretty soild. It should be able to keep up if driven right....right

well i think there are better trucks out there. but the jato will do. just go pratice. and pratice and pratice and pratice.

The 3.3 will keep you up there with the other RCs. If its like any other local track its more about the driver then the RC. You just need to make sure its properly maintained and tuned.

Dont worry about the RC, concentrate on driving.

If you are going to run ST class then check the engine limitations. Not sure if a .20 (3.3) is ROAR legal.

well in club racing no one will bitch about that unless its really starting to make a difference between the others.

I was watching a guy run a Jato 3.3 in the parking lot last Sunday. It got my attention when he started pulling wheelies while he was going half throttle and punched it.

Could I take the chips or crystals from my mammoth and use them on my jato, because when i'm at the track someones always running my frenquency

Also what could I do to give this thing less torque. It's so freakin touchy. Is it possiblr for an engine to run too rich. I'm thinking about richning it up a little so there not soo much power.

You don't want to run a sluggish engine, if your running against better handling st's such as RC10's and Losi's you will need the power of the 3.3 to keep up.

Try adjusting your slipper clutch, loosen it 1/4 of a turn and you should see a difference, adjust more if needed. You want it to slip just enough so you don't spin out but still grad on the strait.

Radio frequencies and bands.

27MHz AM have 6 channels today. They are normally color coded

75Mhz have 30 channels. These range from 61-90.

These are only intended for surface use only.

Swappinng crystals can only work within their own band and freq range.

FM has both 27Mhz and 75Mhz

AM is only 27MHz.

Hope that clears it for ya.

So my jato got green but my mammoth got like 69 I think. That couldn't work

I have no idea. The ones on my jato are green and say 27....mhz. The ones on my mammtoh say ch63 mhz.......

I'm just gonna try it and see what happens:yes:

Man I kinda wish I had went with a 4wd ( maybe the revo) maybe when this engine goes out I will go that route. I still haven't hit the track with a good set of dirt tires., I ordered a set last week ans should be getting them tommorow. Hopefull with less slip and better tires I will get a little mroe traction.

The jato looks like a pretty solid truck. Haven't had much up close with them tho - I just picked up another XXX NT so I could go racing w/ some friends who are into stadiums. I did a search for the requirements to race a 1/10th scale stadium truck - and the 2 main reaons I didn't go Jato is because the engine is restricted to .12, and the transmission needs to be a single speed... Jato has a 2 spd. Well, maybe if I come across a killer deal I'll pick one up for bashin! I dont know about local/club racing - they'll probably let you get away with it tho... have fun controlling that on track! I've heard its pretty tough cause its so fast!

Have fun on the track!

Mike

I still say my xxx-nt AD2 with my o.s TZ does 80 down the backstretch of revelation raceway

Correction amigo; AM is on both 75mhz and 27mhz. It's the AM's that come with most RTR's and toys that tend to be on 27mhz.

Changing crystals between the bands (and the modulations) will usually result in a non-working control setup. Don't worry, it's not permanently damaging; it just means that your radio will stop working as long as the mis-matched crystals are installed.
