My LHS of my choice is a Hobby Town USA. It's by far the best store around, here in Charlotte, NC. The people there are extremely knowledgeable and very helpfull. They stock TONS of parts, stock and hop-ups. Very rarely do they not have what I need. It's a very well organized, neatly kept store. Like said in a previous post, it just all depends on the franchise owner.

I agree, there used to be a Hobby USA here. Notice the past tense. When I got into R/C cars, I got an RC10GT from there, as well as most of my fuel, some aircraft kits, tools, etc. It was a great place. But the owner just gave up and it closed due to no interest in anyone buying the franchise. Now there's 1 really kickass LHS and bumflakes quasi-LHS/craft store. I guess there's really only one choice here.

not saying hobbytown was bad just these guys burn gas indoors all the time. If you bitch he would probably throw you out.

I've never been to Hobbytown, but I have browsed their online catalog before and they sell stuff almost @ retail price. I love my LHS Modaire Hobbies it's a pretty hardcore hobby shop, but most of the guys in there love there planes more than the cars/trucks.

well I'm in a really small town and the only options i have is at least 1.5 hours away and are 3 hobbytowns, 2 now the closest went bellyup, guess why?? the other 2 i have to jump from one to the other, get this i can buy a quart of 30%trinity platinum at one for 8.99$ the other is 14.99$ both are hobbytowns what the hell????one dosnt stock anything that you need on a regular but has cheaper prices, the other stocks alot but has alot higher prices:wtf:

Same thing here about the fuel. If I go to the real LHS, they only stock Byrons at $28/galon. I hate Byrons and have to drive an hour to another shop to get Blue Thunder at $20/galon. I usually get 2 galons at a time and $16 is alot of gas for the 1:1 car. I can order BT at the local shop, but then I have to pay hazmat and shipping on top of the base $28/galon.

Know what you mean. I have to drive round trip about an hour to buy my O'Donnell fuel. LHS seems to change what they carry on a whim but never O'Donnell. If the place I get it at now stops carrying it, I'm pretty much screwed and will have to change brands. BTW, how long can you store an unopened bottle of fuel and still have it in good condition? I'm sure some of this stuff has to have been sitting around storage places for some time before you buy it.

Larry, I've burned fuel that I've had in storage for years. Just keep it in a cool dry dark place with the stopper cap under the screw-on cap and it should be good for a long time. If I'd have to guess, the oldest fuel I've burned and had good runs on would have to about 5 years (give or take a few months). Older stuff I use to clean my engines with.
