I've thought about building a pvc truck stand literally for years now. The last couple of weeks I finally got around to it,sort of ;)

A while back I was throwing some stuff away and noticed a pile of chrome steel tubes in the dumpster. It looked intriguing and I'm not too proud to pull stuff out of the trash so they came home with me. After some investigating,I figured out the tubes were a perfect fit into 1" cpvc fittings. I knew immediately a truck stand was coming so I grabbed a pencil and some paper and started sketching different configurations. Here are the results.

Along the way,I had the idea that it should break down and fold up for easy transportation. So I bought some quick-pull pins and made the top rails removable and the center riser fold down. I'm not sure it's really worth the extra cost and effort, but hey,it sounded good at the time.

Originally I didn't have any caps on the rail ends but I was wandering around Lowe's hardware section and came across some chrome hole plugs. I discovered that the 1- 1/8" plugs were also a perfect fit in the cpvc fittings. Of course I had to have that to finish it off :D

Also,I used a rubber undercoating spray, not paint on the cpvc parts. Another 'it sounded good thing" that may not be worth the cost. This turned into a fairly expensive stand even though I got the tubes for free. I'm just north of the $50 mark. If you want to go cheaper, use all pvc but the rails may sag a little especially with a heavy Savage on it.

I was going to do a complete step-by-step on this but decided to abbreviate it. I will give the info to anyone that wants it though, just PM me. ENJOY!

Very nice! I need to build a stand but I keep putting it off in favor of other more fun projects.

I smell a future vendor product Randy.

Sweet looking stand!

Wow, that looks first class. Great job!
I have the PVC pipe and the angles and connectors. I really should do it soon to preserve whatever might be left of my Savage suspension.

Beautiful stand, it looks like a manufacturers production piece. The end caps are what really gives it the "finished" look.

I know this is a old post, but I've just joined. What an awesome job! That looks like it was worth every dollar you spent!Great job---Bob
