R/C Nitro Talk is where we do our chatting but where do we do our reading? Which R/C magazines do people read or recommend? How do you rate them for stories, reviews, reports, adverts or special offers?

I am trying to steer clear of RC Car Action these day's. They are just too commercialized for me anymore. I just don't see how they are ever going to give a bad reveiw on something. The only honest reveiws are on actual big truck shoot outs and what not in my opinion.

I have read r/c car action, r/c nitro car action, rc driver and xtreme rc cars. xrcc is cool and rc driver i have only read once and liked it. as far as car action mag's and the commercialization (i think thats how you spell it) they all do it and they all will continue to do it. the reviews in all the magazines are going to be favorable almost every time because if they give a good review then tha company keeps buying ad space. but personally i enjoy r/c nitro because i don't own an electric r/c. i only wish they put it out every month. :write:

I like Rc Extreme and RC driver. I like there reviews and how to sections. The other 2 mags seem to have alot of advertising.

I subscribe to RCCA Nitro and Xtreme RC. Both have an idiotic amount of advertisements, but sometimes you find good help with things. Besides, what else am I going to read in the jon?

I like RC Driver alot. It will most likely turn into RCCA though. I pick up an issue of RCCA about every 3 months. It kills me, the retail cost, amount of pages (50% advertising) and having to dig 10 pages in to get to the table of contents.

I mostly read R/C Car. I love this mag because Skinny is a true monster truck man. Also he covers lots of big races and he buts a lot of information in the Mag about thoses races. RCCA is way too much advertisement for me. But they do have good articales in them. IMO, R/C Car is the best mag.

 I also like R/C Car the best, it's a sister pub. to 2 of my fav. mags, Dirt Wheels, and MX Action. They are a little more honest in their reviews, but you still have to read between the lines a bit.
I read RCCA so I can see the ads for the new stuff coming out.:cheeky:

I like RC Driver. They seem to keep advertisements to a minimum while giving the reader lots of essential info. Out of 200+ pages no more than 30 are advertisements. A lot of great info...although their May issue was kind of weak.

RC Nitro is pretty good but thin...RC Car Action is like a informative web page with a 1,000,000 "POP-UPS" but still not that bad.

No chit....

Like some of us where saying in a thread a while back when somone posted a Savage vs Maxx review. You really have to read between the lines with RC mags and I wouldn't take 50% of what they say in a review in RCCC to heart.

I like rcNitro but like RCCC you really have to read between the lines. It's nice to c new products and get a general idea of new RC's through their reviews. The chicks with RC's is kinda nice but really played out and lame in any mag marketing to horny teens that have never seen a beaver. Maybe if the girls where naked holding RC's.

.

Hummm Rc Driver..never really seen it. I'll have to check it out as an actual content driven mag would be nice for a change.

RC Driver is awesome. A lot of content with an acceptable level of ads. They seem to be unbiased thus far.

I'm letting my RC Nitro sub expire becuase it has a very low content to ad ratio. That and its very thin. They have resorted to using models to try and sell magazines. It's all about the R/Cs man. The girls are not needed.

Oh come on Darth, the girls are there for a beautiful purpose right? They are the added perks I do not mind at all.;)

olds97_lss and Wardo hit the nail on the head. RC Car Action is so expensive and there are so many ads. I usually send in a pit tips idea about once a year and get the free six issues deal with them, as it is not worth $30 a year to subscribe. With all the ads they should give that magazine away.
RC Nitro is alright, but alot of ads there to.
Xtreme RC is pretty good in the ads content and they have the girls, which is always good.
I just sent off for a free issue of RC Driver, haven't received it yet they had a free trial issue deal so I went for it.
I will have to try RC Car to see if it is any good.

I generally don't have a preference. I'm not loyal to one magazine. I just basically browse through the stand at the LHS. If something catches my eye, article on "how to's" or good info ... I might buy it. I don't care for the reviews since they seem to be biased towards companies advertising in their mag.

I just read throught the mag, then I tear out articles and compile them in my own binder. Based on gearing, tuning, hopups, engine specs, painting tips ... you get the point; that's what my binder contains.
