Is there saposed to have oil comming out of the muffler of my nitro rc truck?

Is the engine new? If yes then yes it should.

Yup, that's very common. The fuel that we use contains oils to help lube and cool the engine. Much of it isn't burnt during combustion so it ends up coming out the exhaust.

If it is broken in then there will still be some unspent oil. You want that to be present or your engine will more then likely be leaned out too far.

if theres not, then something is wrong.there is supposed to be at least a little bit of oil coming out.

yup, there should always be some gas/oil coming out....and then when you throttle, like actually driving it, then smoke/exhaust should come out of the exhaust pipe, hence the name exhaust pipe.

I always roll a tampon for her out of a napkin when I bring her in from outside. She doesn't leak on my workbench that way.

i just shove those little foam looking earplugs that swell up in your ear after u squeeze em in the the muffler outlet. prevents ANY oil from comming out, makes a nice tight seal.

They work good too. I save mine to plug the carb when I have the filter off.

Yes, the oil contained in the Nitro fuel will collect in the pipe and come out as a syrupy type consitancy. Depending on how rich you are running your nitro determines how much oil comes out of the pipe. The richer you run the more oil that will deposit, the leaner you run the less amount of oil. Hope this helps! Welcome to RCNT....

is it ok if i dont even plug it? I just put a paper towel underneath it to make it so it dont leak on my bench.

Yeah, its fine if you dont plug it... Most people just feel a little more safe that a sneaky drop of oil isnt going to come out and stain something...

lol, sneaky...

doesn't bother me. That's what the pit towel is for, other than keepng those damn screws from rolling away.

step one: remove muffler
step two: spray carb cleaner into header end of muffler.
step three: dry.

no oil problems.

That carb cleaner is great for those of you that run a dual chambered pipe. It helps clean the baffles inside from the residue that builds up. Nitroblast works just as well.
