Does anyone know of a silenced tuned pipe that makes good power but is more quite than regular pipes? There are a bunch of them on tower hobbies, but who knows if any work well?

I think I had my first protest from a neighbor last night. I have been driving a lot lately since I got a storm and RC10gt, and last night I drove in my yard until about 7:30. At about 11:00 pm some jiz-mop stopped in front of my house and honked the horn for about 30 long seconds! The little weenie drove off before I could moon him....

Actually, I think you're going about this the wrong way. What you need to do is to run without any pipe at all for about an hour at that time of day. Then get yourself a paintball marker. And when that car pulls up again, pepper it with some nice, bright color. That will get your point across...

OK, time to be a responsible RC'er. I don't know of any that are significantly quieter than any other. I run my Maxx with an AE pipe and that puts out around 75 dB at 20 yds. Closer to 90 dB within 3 feet of the stinger. So it's got some volume. Even then it may be one of the quieter ones. I don't know how much lower you can get....

That stock savage pipe is extremely loud! stay away from of it ( not that you would use a stock part)

Candyman,
Thats better than my idea, I wanted to line the steet with claymore mines. Would that be wrong?

No, I think that idea has merit. But you may want to consider using Bouncing Bettys instead. They're much more entertaining...

Yeah, bouncing bettys...Thats the one that jumps up off the ground and explodes in the air, right? That'll give em something to complane about!

I do worry about annoying people, cause I live in a little farm shack surrounded by $1m houses. In this picture are two BIG houses, it might have been one of them.

I'm always riding dird bikes or driving rc's and these people have resources, I don't want them to sue me or anything! So I'm going to look for a quiet pipe.

Hey Candyman, how/what did you use to read the dB of your pipe? Expensive?

First of all...lmfao about the "drove off before I had a chance to moon the weenie remark".

I don't know if my neighbors are jealous of me or they just don't like me or a combination their of..hehe. I have a plehtora of hobbies that apparently piss of my neighbors. I sold my 2001 BMW M3 cause the insurnace was too high and got a 2003 metallic orange 350z with exhaust and Stillen supercharger and my neighbors apparently don't like the exhuast note of the Z..hehe. We got shooting from time to time and good forbid if my neighbors saw me loading up a car load full of guns...the look on their faces is priceless.ha. I drive nitor cars until sun down all the time and they hate that..ha. I have mild parties with close friends that never get out of control and they hate that..hehe.

As far as I'm concerned they're fair game to run your nitro cars until sun down (which is now way to early for my tastes) after that it's your car but your probably gonna piss people off.

To the original topic.......Tuned eerr more Efficient/Fast and quiet exhuast for any combustion engine tends to be an oxymoron as you probably know. It's scientifically impossible to have a very effecient exhaust that's super quiet as any restricted exhaust flow is reducing power. More exhaust technologies are developed all the time but if your want good and especially maxx power your going to have noise..period. I would ask around for the best combo of perfomance and noise reduction but I probably wouldn't wanna run it.

Peace

7:30 at night? That seems somewhat reasonable, not like you were out at say 9 or 10 or even better yet at midnight right outside the neighbors window! Me on the other hand I live in a mobile home park so I really can't drive around my yard much at all without pissing someone off, thankfully enough though there are a few good spots close by that I can go have some quality quiet time with my savage and it's noisey stock pipe! :D

The only time I've had trouble with noise is with my Maxx. It was about 8AM one Saturday morning, and I was getting ready to go somewhere and was killing some time while my gf (fiancee) got ready. Normally she can get ready in about 30 start to finish shower included, but that day she was being a normal female. Anyway the lady 2 doors down came out robe and curlers and asked me if I'd keep it down a bit so she could sleep. Fair enough, it was pretty early for a Saturday.
Bottom line, stay away from the Sirio pipe, it's kinda loud.

I work as an Audiologist (hearing specialist) at my local hospital. I have access to industrial grade sound level meters that we use to calibrate our equipment. I actually kidnapped one last summer to do some measurement for another member on this board. Is it expensive? Yeah, if you wanted to buy one like I used. But you could probably get a passable one at Radio Shack.

Road Rage i am in the same boat as u. i also live in a mobile home park and i am always driving the maxx. that xtm .21 conversion pipe is louder than crap and the neighbors hate that. i drive pretty much till about 9 at night and then whenever in the mornings, the only time i dont try to piss them off is the weekends. but it dont matter cause i sleep till 11 anywayz

As a short term solution go and get some fish-tank tubing and slide it over your stinger. Start with about 6-8 inches and see what it does to your HP. keep shortening it up to find the proper balance. You can pick it up at any good hardware store fir .50 a foot.

Give it a shot before you go purchase another pipe. The glory is you can remove it and all you will need is a little tweak on the tuning to be back to normal. I do this when running at night in my neighborhood.

I did the same thing, but used an over flow tube for a radiator. Reasoning was different. I did it to just keep the exhaust residue on the body to a minimum. As far as it being a little more quiet, found that out by accident but it does work.
