Hello,

I am new here and tried a search and only found one from 04. Hopefully someone has some new insight. I have an older Savage 25 SS kit. It came with the ribbed pipe and is very loud. My 2 year old is very scared of it. I read THS makes a pipe to make it quieter on that old post. Does anyone have a recommendation on a quiet pipe? I read the CVEC pipes aren't all that great. Is it difficult to tune the car with a new pipe? Any info would b great including good places to buy the parts online.

Thanks!
Anthony

Sadly most pipe for nitros are not going to be very quiet. A dual chamber pipe will be more quiet than a single chamber. I have the THS and it is not what I would call a quiet pipe...granted better than the HPI ribbed which is just annoying. I have never tried the Losi HT I have heard they make good power but not sure on the noise level of them. The Buku pipes are from all what I have heard are just hype. Good idea in theory but....yeah. If I remember correctly the quietest pipe "I" have used was the plastic HPI with the baffle in it. There are literally hundreds of pipes out there I have only put about 7-10 on my Savage. I am sure there will be some more chiming in too.

Yeah, just find the stock platic pipe with baffle insert on eBay from one of those guys that takes new vehicles and sells them off part by part. It'll be the quietest. It won't have the bling, but it'll tone it down. Otherwise, HPI does offer a Flux brushless conversion kit for nitro Savys if you want to convert to electric...

HTH...

Thanks for the info. I know the nitro will be loud, just the ribbed pipe is a little much for my little guy. I'll look for the Losi or the plastic HPI.

Go buy a big box of earplugs, offer them to you little guy, and anybody else who can't handle the noise! :)

Seek the losi HT as the HPI plastic is still very loud compared to it. The losi pipe is pretty quiet.

You will have to get creative with the coupler though as the losi pipe is a one piece pipe (uses springs to hold the pipe to the header). A good hunk of silicone hose and heavy zipties work pretty good though.

Here's my savage with the losi HT pipe on it:

Thanks for chiming in Olds...I knew you have used them a lot but I have yet to. Racer...does it have to be pink to work correctly?

I love the HPI ribbed pipe, I kinda dig the sound, lol. But the exhaust deflector will definately quiet it down a little, not much but it does take some of the edge of the sound of the ribbed pipe.

Joe I know ya like it ribbed....lol. Yeah the deflectors do help some but that HPI pipe has to be the loudest pipe I have heard. My ERCM pipe is loud...but not like that. But it all equals fun so.....party on

When I fire up the Savage heads turn, lol. It is definately an attention getter. I agree though, has to be the loudest pipe I have heard on a nitro engine. :D

Thats right! Ribbed for her pleasure :D
