Hello, I am still new to the hobby and would like to know about running my rig. I have a Nitro Rustler (tough as nails) anywho, It has been broken in fully. I bought it used. Well the question is. Is it bad to run it full throttle all the time? Back and forth round and round and it seems like I keep the pedal to the medal lol. Just don't want to blow it up. I still need to ged a temp gun, and after many many adjustments, it seems that my rig is at the top of its game. no sputter, perfect stream of smoke. but I don't know the temp it is running. Ok I just thought of another question. when I play I get lost in time. question is, Can you run it for long periods of time or do I need to let it cool every so many tanks run threw it?

Thanks for all the help!

If you're holding the throttle "pegged" 100% of the time; yes, it is bad. Very bad. It causes the connecting rod to stretch and possibly snap, with the extended high rpms.

However, if you run full throttle at 2 or 3 seconds, tops, it won't be bad for the con rod.

Well I guess I said thet wrong. I kinda ment most of the time. no one can hold it 100% all of the time. I guess what I ment was, I have about 200 ft. stretch and probably the only time it seems that I let off is to turn around. Is that bad? and is it a bad thing to run it for long periods of time. (the rig) Well thanks for the help. I sure would hate to blow my rig up just because of it being hard put it away. way too much fun...

Running them for an extended period of time doesn't hurt them. Just running them WOT for a long time (more than 2-3 seconds at top speed) damages them.

I run mine for an hour or so at a time before I get tired of standing... Even then, I stop every hour or so just to make sure bolts aren't getting loose and whatnot. But otherwise, I'll run almost for 4 hours straight in the summer if I find a fun place to be. Although, I do normally take more than one rig, so I switch off half way through a 4 hour bash session. After 3-4 hours I get bored and start doing stupid stuff, so I pack up and go home before I break them too bad.

thanks olds97 I appreciate your input. I would like to share a trick I thought of to insure that the screws dont come out. first go to the parts store and get a bottle of touch-up paint. ( any color) Take the paint and put a touch on the screw and to what it is holding. It serves as a locktight and works where regular locktight won't. Well maybe that is a old trick but being new to the forum and the hobby I thought it was a great idea. since I done mine I haven,t lost or had to tighten any screws.
Thanks again for the info.

RC Pro uses fingernail polish when they tech your truck/buggy, usually some ugly color nobody would think to keep around.

LOL You know I haven't thought of nail polish. I work at a Dealership and I picked up the same color as the part I am applying to. makes it un noticeable. I didn't know that others use that method. but if anyone reads this that doesn't know it is a great idea. locktight either works to well or not goodenough in plastic. either still falls out or pulls threads out. Anyway, Thanks for the input and the help. P.S My wife would kill me if I used her polish. She hates the time I spend out playn. She says that should be our time. ( Weman, can't stand when we have fun. LOL )
