I'm wanting a truggy to race.. what are some good ones to get and what to avoid?? what do u think of the helfire truggy?

Search, they've all been covered pretty well. Mugen MBX5T, Losi 8T, Kyosho ST-RR and the Jammin CRT and Xray XT8 are you top five in no particular order. All have their pros and cons. Run far away from the hellpile!

I have tried them all trust me on that and have a few of a couple the best ones for me have been the crt and by far the best of the best it the mugen mbx5t,the kyosha str handle good but the diffs suck the crt is super tough but does not turn and the mugen just drives itself parts are easy with a main and a few others...there are a few other rtr that would do as a 1st truggy but you asked for the best race truggy go with the mugen trust me losi has problems to work out and i here its super twichy to drive....good luck ask me anything you want i will try and help....

I ran with two guys that had them, they aren't very durable or race worthy. They had hard enough time finishing a qualifier let alone making the main. The new ST-RR has different dif gears and a longer chassis along with big bore shocks, but Kyosho's are so damn expensive. The CRT weighs quite a bit more than the others but if you get a BCE chassis for it it really makes some major improvements to the truck. But you're looking at $100 or there.

Wow you say the CRT doesn't turn? I can rail mine around a pipe at every corner of the track. All you need to do is remove the front sway bar on the CRT and it will corner on a dime.

Depending on your driving style, nothing's wrong with the 8T or everything's wrong with the 8T. I have two of them (and an 8 buggy) and love the way they handle. Other people think they suck.

They do have a problem with rod ends popping off (easy fix) and some have had issues with the throttle servo burning out but everyone I've talked to with that problem was using a relatively lightweight servo as the T/B.

I ran a CRT for a while and thought it turned like a turd. It took a lot to get any on power steering out of it. To say it had a serious push is an understatement.
