OK, I have the steering servos working great now after the battery upgrade. now, I don't have 4wd, just rear.. and I have absolutely NOOOO brakes. replacing pads seems the obvious choice, BUT I was thinking and wondering if the gears in the tranny could be stripped. not allowing the front to turn. Wouldn't that also mean it will not stop as well?
Thanks,
Brian

first, pull the cover off the trans and take a look. If anythinn seams a miss have it replaced and go from there.

Check the front drive shaft, the front diff, and the screws in the front CVD's. Believe it or not Losi does not put LocTite on the grub screws when they build the axle shafts and the screws back out causing the pin to fall out. Once that happens no FWD--even if just one side comes out.

As for not having brakes: Is the linkage there and functioning?

OK, I am guessing there is a site hole or access point in the tranny to look without removing from your description? I didn't think about that. Just wanted to narrow things down before pulling it apart. I think it's at the tranny level. If I hold the front off the ground and give it gas, you can see the front ds moving, but not much at all, not at the rate the rear would need to be to move the truck. yes, the linkage is there for the brakes, the pads are there, the disks are there.. if you hit the brake, you can see it moving the brake mech (not much) but movement). That's why I was wondering if the 2 problems might be related.. I know early on, I had no fronts and found that I had busted one of the drive shafts at the cup on the wheel. I replaced it though and still the same.
Thanks for the input guys!
Brian

Did you check your grub screw on the axle cup that the brake disks are on?

The LST* trans is pretty bullet proof internally, but you may have chewed up a gear in there. However, it sounds more like your grub screw on the cup one on the front diff is missing/loose. Or, your front diff is toast. Or, you forgot to put the pin back in the axle before installing the new wheel hex.

Ok, that's the kind of input I needed. I just went and played with the truck and found the problem. not sure of the RC technical term, but the front shaft was not connecting to the output shaft on the tranny. it slipped in front of the brakes so they were not engaging. It's too late to go test it now, but I will take her out tomorrow and test it out. Thanks for the input. I did find another problem though.. The mega battery pack I bought.. one of the batteries doesn't fit like they said it should.. it's fallen out a few times, and has now cut the wires at the battery. :/
Again, thanks for the suggestions. I think it's all going to work tomorrow. if I wanted reverse. all I need is the tranny with reverse and anothre servo, correct? (obviously the linkages too)
Brian

You would need the original LST tranny and the servo. Plus, does that RX have a port for the reverse servo? You would also need the extra channel on the TX.

yes, it's a 3 channel receiver and transmitter. Since I don't race it, I'm thinking of reverse. I personally think it's pretty useful.
