I know the horror stories about these engines but my LHS has them for $72 bucks

Maybe the price should tell me something but I'm sure thinking about trying one. I can't even buy a stock TRX Pro .15 for that price.

anyway, when these engines are running right, how well do they perform?

I've run one and it was better then stock but not by much. I think its a hit or miss engine I got one that runs fine and holds a tune ok its now a back up for my other engines. For $72 bucks take a chance and see what happens you might get a good one. One thing you have to do is pre-oil it before starting. Just put 4 or 5 drops of ARO in the night before you plan to do the break in. I mean dont even pull the pull start before doing this.

I've never heard about the pre-oiling before break in

Explain the reasoning behind this Hunter??

Its one of the better safe then sorry things in life. As I'm sure you know Most engines sit on the shelf for quite some time before someone buy's them, this lets the oil drip to the bottom of the crank case leaving the piston dry for the most part. And other engines come on the dry side from the factory, you know not much oil in them to start with. So its better to play on the safe side and put some in (oil) before starting for the first time. I've been doing this for a number of years and my engines last longer then most other peoples engines do. Also put an ink mark on your flywheel so you know where BDC is, this way you can set the piston at BDC after the engine has heated up. Its better to let the engine cool with the piston at BDC.

OH ok, I knew all that already, I thought you were talking about the M16 engine needing a special break in procedure

my mistake, just misunderstood what you said :D

I know about BDC also :D

Ft I can't tell you anything about the megatech if you are looking for a cheap pro .15 mill this is a sweet deal 79.99 +8 shipping this is who I bought my fantom from and they got great service. 87 bucks to your door for a motor that has a ps and no need for crank cutting is a pretty good deal. Now if that is 72 plu tax its only another 10 bucks for less worry. X

That is a good deal, might look into that, thx X for the info
