Q? about steering servo horn

Can you use the stock steering servo horn on a Hitec servo? It fits over the servo, but concerned about stripping it while running. I thought I saw servo horns for non-traxxas servos for sale by traxxas. Are these required?

No. Stock is made for futaba splined servos. You can buy traxxas horns for hitec splines:
