Hi guys I'm new here i have a losi truck and have a couple of problems

firstly i got to say here in the uk I've never heard of losi before i bought this and i love it even my friends with hpi savages are very impressed

firstly it always starts from cold which is good i have a big problem pulling away from a standstill very very easy to stall it id say a 1/4 throttle problem is there anything i can do to help this ?

also when I've emptied a tank or if it stalls when warm it is very very very hard to start I've read on here about the one way bearing is it really easy to change or clean out is it a case of removing the exhaust and manifold then take the cover off ?

is it possable to fit a pull string with the roto start so cold start i can use the rotor and hot the pull string ? or is it just worth fitting a pull string and binning the roto stuff.

cheers in advance for any help or advise

regards

First, if you have gone through the break in, it's time to start adjusting the carb needles. Once you start it, let it warm up completely, then start to lean the LSN and the idle together till you get a good idle AND a good take off. Once your take off is good, start doing high speed passes, and adjust your HSN till it runs well at WOT. Now that the weather is getting much cooler, you need to change to a cooler glo plug, also.
Once your tune is good, you'll only need to tweak the HSN for changes in humidity and outside temp.

Plus one on leaning it out a little. Losi's Dynamite engines are notorious for being very sensitive to rich conditions. That is why they bog down on takeoff.

As for not starting after the first tank: Is your fuel filter laying along side the head? Mine was and was causing the problem. I re-routed it away from the head and behind the rear shock tower. No more re-starting problems.

Also, if you are using the priming plunger to get fuel to your carb before starting you may want to pull it out and seal the hole with some JB Weld. Losi tanks are famous for air leaks in this area.

cheers for all the help guys i will have a play with the low speed fueling.

RC addict yes the fuel filter is next to the head why would that be causing the problem ? i will get some more fuel line and re run it

cheers

With my truck the fuel filter laying alongside the head was causing a vapor lock condition where the filter was absorbing the heat from the head and cooking the fuel. The problem worsened when I refueled and that cooler fuel hit the carb.

Remember to set your needles to where it runs best after running for about five minutes. You need to lean her out a bit for better launch but not so much that it leans too far out when the engine warms up.
