i had a problem with the pull start, it sometimes wouldent recoil?

if i loosend the glow plug off it would spring back....

i know you will probably say 'heat the engine up' but why does no one else have to do this?

i think it has something to do with the compression of the engine?

i run an all stock tmaxx, and the pull start was brand new.

i have tried to clean the one way and the shaft. ( my other hunch was that there is somthing wrong with the starter shaft?)

thanks

sometime if you pull to far the cord can be stock and the recoil spring can be damage ...maybe it this the problem.....

Check the screws holding the pullstart to the backplate. If those are cranked down too hard, it will cause binding and not allow it to move freely.

even if the pull start is brand new on its first start up?

i never pull it over 12 inches:)

HA HA youve sorted my problem!!!!!!!!!!

i think that may be the problem as i allways tighten the screws right up tight as i can.

thanks alot!

Was Divers advice what cured your problem?

I found that my pull starter wheel was rubbing on the housing inside when the screws where tight... so I dremel'd everywhere that I "thought" it was rubbing. Now it's good and recoils without a problem.

However, I have quickly learned that the traxxas 2.5 one way is very unforgiving with water. I let mine sit for 2 days after bashing in snow and the one way was seized on the shaft to the point that I had to heat it with a blow torch (mini-torch) to get it off.

hey i found on other forum ....look

TIRIED OF SLIPPING ONE WAY

NOTE: This is not my idea...NOR do not blame me for any "bad" end results that MAY come from this...
Remove your engine with the roto-start attached...Then remove the roto-start.
It should like this right now...

You see the small "Circle Pop Out" Drill a small hole somewhere on the "Pop Out" Like so.
And re-install like so...

You may also want to add a "Fuel Nipple" to keep dirt from entering, and coming into, and ruining your roto-start and motor (DUH)
Here is a picture of the fuel nipple...

You can find the fuel "Nipple" at this link ---> http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...ple&FVPROFIL=++
You may also want to put this on the end of the fuel nipple, Its the end cap that goes on the end of a Glow Plug Ignitor...It's just smaller...

The point is that you can easily squirt some type of DE GREASER onto the oneway bearing so it will now grab and wont break/slip...Just squirt it down the fuel line through the nipple into the roto-start backplate....

just broughta new pull start and guess what?.....its still doing it!!!

I've just nipped the screws on the back up, have i still done them too tight?

also it is pretty cold here, could this be causing it?

and, if i loosen the glow plug off it slowly recoils.

please help as its doin my head in!

Have you de-greased the housing, rope and coil spring? I know mine was really gummed up from neglect and wouldn't hardly wind itself back in when it was off the engine. I took spool out and the rope off, soaked the rope in DA and squeezed it through a paper towel a few times to get it un-sticky. I took out the coil spring, degreased it with a DA soaked paper towel. I also cleaned out the whole housing really well.

After all that, it works pretty good now. Well, that and some WD-40 on the one way.

when it recoils, is it spinning the flywheel with it? sounds to me that the one way is backwords and you have to let the compression out for it to spin the engine and wind back up....

If the oneway is backwards, you wouldnt be getting anything when you pull, just slippage.

To me, it kinda sounds like a oneway issue, not backwards, but maybe gummed up enough to make it difficult to retract.

Do you have another one way to try out?

When the PS is off, the one way should spin one way very freely.

hi

just to let you know I've sorted out the pull start, it did bind at first but its stopped now so all is good.

thanks for all the help you guys.
