man, i skimped on the 2 year warranty...and now 6 months after having my ps3, there is a problem with the eye, it doesn't read anything, dvd, blue ray, cd, games, anyone have a tip to cleaning the eye?

and i can't get ahold of a real person for anything at sony....its all those pre-recorded crap...

lets just say i am not a happy camper!!!!

Microfiber cloth maybe? I'm not sure but that's what I use on all my lenses, be it glasses or my cell phone screen. I know around here I believe our Gamestop will service them at a reasonable price, but I'm not sure if that's offered everywhere.

i will have to give gamestop a call...i found out some info...ps3 is going to send me a box with prepaid postage, and supposedly fix it if it is a defect...so i hope that it gets fixed, i pre-ordered a game about 2 months ago, and it comes out in a couple of weeks, and i was hoping to play it since i bought it forever ago lol....

Isn't there a manufacturer's warranty still? I would think a year at least!

yeah, I would think so. Maybe that's what the prepaid box is all about. I don't think there is a product on the market that doens't have at least a 1 year warranty these days.

yeah, its a 1 year manufacturers warranty, but i do believe if i would have gotten the 2 year extended warranty through walmart, that i can just take it to walmart, and they deal with all the paper work and stuff...it just sucks, cus right now we dont have tv, and i was using the ps3 as my whole entertainment system...and now i am without ....

Lately, I have been rethinking the whole extended warranty deal. My brothers LCD went out and since he had the extended warranty, they are going to replace it with a better one from this years models.

Hope it works out for you!

i bought an extended warranty when we got our DLP a few years ago. It has proven to easily pay for itself plus some. When it comes to brand new tech they are a good idea. I didn't buy one for my PS3 just recently because they have been out for a while now plus I don't use it like most hardcore gamers do. Aside from a couple movies a week I only play about an hour at a time.

yeah, i hear you on that...we got the extended warranty on the lcd tv...and I'm glad, havent had to use it yet, but the ps3, i watched a movie last night and worked, then quite this morning...i didnt use it a whole lot until we got rid of dish...but we are getting it back next week...i will probably play more now that there are some good games coming out....IF they even fix it for me, but they should becuase it hasnt been abused...but you know big companies, they cut costs however they can...
