porterhouse, please take few minutes to read the rules, especially the f/s rules. You must be a member in good standing for 90 days and have 100 productive posts before being allowed to sell items here at RCNT. Please make no more references to selling anything until you have the requirements met. Thank you.

IMO, even if you did meet the requirements you should know what you are selling since it is a large item. If it were like a misc parts, I could understand. But this is way too vague. Stick around and learn about your ride. You just may want to enjoy it after.

hmm

i apreciate your time and understanding
thanks all for a joyous accomadations

It has nothing to do with understanding your agenda. You have mentioned three times already how you have one, and how it is for sale. I merely informed you of our f/s rules. No matter what you say your agenda is, you are trying to sell your buggy. Once you have met our requirements then by all means feel free to post it in the f/s forum. In the mean time please feel free to enjoy the rest of the forum and share info. Have a great day.

Good to see that this thread is still alive after so long! I've gotten my swift tuned up and while the bottom end is decent, my god it is fast! Stupid, uncontrollable, squeeze the trigger and pray like hell fast! A 100ft full throttle run equaled about a 30ft full brake skid on dirty pavement.

I need some help tuning it now. I know I can buy other parts from other kits but this is a backyard basher that I'd rather not dump money into. When the parts break, I'll replace/upgrade then. As far as I know, all the fluids are stock. My problem is on a dirty, dusty street I cannot get the car to turn. No matter how light I am on the throttle or the steering, the car whips into a 180 or farther. It jumps beautifully, is relatively stable in a straight line at high speeds, but even going straight a little steering correction causes crazy fishtails. Using adjusting instead of buying stuff, what can I do to correct this? Where do I set the shocks and at what height? I don't really want to get into changing diff oils yet because I'm sure there is other adjustments I can make first.

My guess is to lower it a little to help center of gravity and stiffen the rear. I'm thinking with the rear up high and being soft, all the weight shifts and just throws the rear into a spin. I can do some killer donuts though!

What tires are you running?

Are both braces tight?

Any pics of the shock set up? (hole positions)

I'm running the pro shocks, red (soft) springs, and 40wt oil all round.

You want a soft set up if on tarmac.

Mine gives the Lossi's and X rays a run for there money at the local track LOL

Dave

I'm running whatever the stock tires are. I also have the version 1 Swift. Braces seem tight. I have the stock rear swaybar and one for the front I haven't installed yet (came missing pieces). The shocks are stock springs with stock oil. Front shocks are on the top middle hole if you look at the rows like this: /// Bottoms are on the farthest outside hole (closest to the wheel). Rear shocks are on the outside hole of the 2nd row (you have the top 2 holes, then next row underneath of 3 holes, it's on the outside of that row). Bottom part is on the farthest outside hole. Front shock collar is threaded down maybe 1/2" and the rear is probably just shy of 1".

This is a backyard basher and I run it a lot on dirty pavement and parking lots, but I also run it now and then at the park on grass and stuff. I know I can't get the best for both, but I'm aiming for a happy medium. Remember those radio shack RC cars with the tank treads? Remember the crazy donuts they did by having 1 tread go forward and the other in reverse? I can do exactly that with my car. Cool as hell and very impressive to bystanders, but for me that gets old after about 5 seconds.

Also, where is a good place in the US to order parts? I'd like to take my car to some of the area tracks but am afraid to break something. Sheldonshobbies' Swift page no longer works...

Sad Rocc,

From what you have stated, the set up's the same as mine, but i have the shock collar (rears) only screwed down about 1/4 inch and fronts 1/8 inch. and the front shocks i have it in the top outer hole.

Best of luck with it mate.

Dave

Good to know about the parts, I thought the SHO was just a similiar, mostly compatible car. Did they ever get around to making those hardened drives? Did someone find a solution to the car running very badly on a full tank but being fine from about 3/4 to empty? I remember that being a regular problem.

DaveM, interesting, altough you have different springs I'll give it a try. In other news, I took it to the park on a grass surface and it was awesome! At high speeds it tended to float over the ground like one of those RL race boats on water but I managed sweet huge drifts and only had it spin out now and then. I was pretty stoked about it's grass performance and it's jumping ability is amazing! It pops off most any size jump and lands solidly on all 4 wheels every time.

With the stock diff oil setup, I assume most of the power is going to the rear? Maybe with a more even distribution of power between front and rear and/or having the rear diff 'firmer' would help as well. I'm just guessing here, I know zip about tuning diffs and suspension but if the inner wheels front and back free-wheeled on turns too easily, that would cause it to do crazy donuts yes? At the same time I don't want to change things too much and have the car have a ton of push and not turn at all.

Last question (for now), when I'm going along pretty good and I lock the brakes, the car always spins 180 counterclockwise. What's up with that? Weight balance issue? Uneven action in the suspension?

I lied about the questions. After looking at the link above, I see there are lightened parts for pretty much every part on the car. Any that people recommend? This is a basher for now, but I discovered there's a handful of tracks in my area and maybe I'll race. I don't need any more top speed, I can't handle the car at full throttle as is and usually keep it to 1/2-3/4, but some more acceleration would be nice. Plus, I know lighter is always better. Just ask Lotus, it's their company motto ('Speed through lightness' I believe, or something similar). ;)

Hi Everyone,

I just rebuilt my Swift/SHO and would like to document my set ups. Does anyone know if there is a Swift/SHO setup sheet available?

Thanks for the advice re the setup sheet. I copied one from another brand and modified it for the Swift. Send me a PM if anyone would like copies.
