With the 2 speed, where did you put the shims?
What do you mean by alum 2 speed, you mean as in shoes? that wouldn't be a good idea unless you had a steel housing otherwise shoes and housing would wear. The only problem I had with 2 speed was not using top quaility hex tools, the crap hex tool stripped out head of adjusting screw.

watch the instructions on the 2-speed. When i bought my two speed they were not very clear and the fit was not right. I had to get some shimms to take up some of the play between the two spur gears. They tended to wobble and were not wearing correctly after install. Once they were shimmed I have had no problem.
Also, carefull when building the 2-speed clutch. I'm on my 3rd cause the adjustment screws kept stripping the plastic housing and tended to get stuck in 2nd gear. Now its fine.
Anyone know of an alum 2-speed clutch? I'm no expert but i've only ever seen plastic ones.
