well i been lookin around at the tamiya but with a family on army paychecks thats a little outta question......I've also been lookin at new brights because that would give me a great start....because motors and esc are cheaper than buying the tamiya....yall let me know if its a good idea....i understand that it would prolly end up being time consuming but i mean if i can build one that works like a tamiya for 100 bucks instead of 700 then I'm more than willing lol lemme know

About the only thing worth using off a newbright is the body, everything else is garbage, but they do make some very nice scale bodies. If you are on a tight budget look around for a used rig, as building one can also get a bit expensive.

it aint that its just the fact that even used is like 300 bucks....but I'm glad you guys let me know cuz your prolly right ...thanks anyways

but i was lookin at the f350 high lift or equivalent.....anybody know of any companies like tamiya that are cheaper...

you think that a new bright would still be crap if it had a 12turn in it...cuz i can get one of those cheap with the esc

Most crawlers and scalers use a much higher turn motor. A 12 turn motor is more of a racing motor, a high speed low torque motor. Scalers will typically use somewhere between a 35-55 turn motor. Newbrights are toy grade r/cs, and you will dump a ton of money in to one to make it anything worth while, and when you are done, all that will be left is the body anyway. Save up and get something decent, go with something like an Axial SCX10, definately cheaper than a Tamiya, worlds better than any Newbright could ever hope to be.

New Brite makes beautiful bodies. Other than that, they are strictly toys. They will be uncontrollable with better motors since the remotes are either full forward, full reverse, full left and full right, and the circuit board won't be able to handle any upgrades.
I've bought a couple just for the bodies, throw away ALL the internals, then spend a fortune in time and money to build custom RC rigs.
You might also want to look at Traxxas Rustlers. That's a common way to get into the hobby without spending a lot.

well I'm already in the hobby....i have a tmaxx with a .21 on it and a redcat racing volcano epx pro.....love em both....i was just seein whats out there but yeah i think I'm goin with the axial truck...seems to be the same of what I'm lookin for and way cheaper than tamiya but thanks to you guys for all the help
