problems with idle

I have my idle screw adjusted so that there is a 1mm gap like it says to in the manual. but I can get it to idle slow enough to stop the wheels from spinning, they are really spinning fast with the wheels off the ground, if i was to put it on the ground it would take off. I read a similar thread and they said something about the clutch being shot. How would I be able to tell if this was the problem, I very new at this, and have spent alot of time trying to fix this problem

Welcome to the forum!

What engine/vehicle is it? You may have your low speed needle (LSN) too lean which won't let your idle drop because it's starving for fuel. If your high speed needle (HSN) is way too lean, you will have a similar issue, but it will more than likely stall out when you try to take off.

idle problem

Thanks for the help, but I've figured out the problem broken clutch spring. I spent days playing with the hsn, and lsn and and all it was, was a broken clutch spring. I've learned something new everyday since I got this truck, I like it.

Glad you figured it out

Just to mention, I've seen this also happen when the carb set screws (on some motors) find there way out, basiclly giving throttle on a closed carb.
