Problem with SC10

Hey Guys,

I have a problem with my SC10. I am hearing a grinding noise coming from the rear of the truck. It doesn't stop it from running, but the clicking is very noticable. With no load it seems that the right rear tire slows faster than the left. I am running the gear diff not the ball diff. I checked my mesh... it seems good. I have tightened the slipper... it might be a little tight... but would that explain the clicking? Anyway I turn it over to you gurus out there. Thanks

Ok I know you said you checked the diff but there cold be a tiny chunk of something in the teeth stuck in the grease. Rotateit over byhand and if the click or stiffness is in the same spot every time that is probably the issue. Whith the one tire slowing faster than the other.... Does the rims have hexes or pegs like the RC10T it is based off of? If pegs you can over tighten a tire and it will drag on the axle carrier. I melted one that way. If not that check your bearings. No guru here just a guy who has broke a lot of stuff by doing it wrong ang learning from it.

I will check the diff again tonight to see it is stiff in the same place everytime as well as I will make sure the wheels are not on too tight. I have a tendancy to over tighten things. Thanks

I took both wheels off inspected the diff, spur, and pinion gears. All appear ok. I removed and checked both wheels and all seems ok there. Maybe my slipper is too tight... but it was raining last night so I couldn't track test it. I hate these type of problems.

i had a rear wheel strip out and it made a distinct clicking noise.check to make sure your wheel pins didn't strip out the rim.

It was just enough that it clicked under power. Under closer inspection of the flywheel, I can see the faintest of wear, where the set screw was hitting. I reversed the pinion gear and all seems whell for the moment. Thanks for all the help guys.

It's always the simplest problems that seem to take the longest to repair! LOL Or I'm just a dumbass! LOL
