when i was running my savage, it started to get slower and slower. however i would hold full throttle and it would rev like its supposed to. so its not the engine. i took out the tranny and no stripped gears. i checked the clutch and everything is well. what could it be?

It sounds like a slipper clutch problem. Don't have a savage, but thats where I would look.

Check your wheel hexes. If you have not tightened them they can strip..they can strip regardless. Check the slipper of all is good with the rims.Spin your spur and see if spins w/o binding.

no the slipper is working fine i will check the wheel hexes right now. by the way does it take long for yall to take out the tranny. i had to remove the back end, and engine just to take it out.

i checked the hexes and they are fine too. what else could it be?

i also checked the diffs. and there is no stripping there.

Have you checked your clutch shoes? are your brakes draggin? Carb opening all the way up? Still sounds like the slipper to me...

i checked over the slipper again and it is fine.

same thing happened to mine when I built mine. In my case the the springs in the clutch bell went, I didn't have the nut tight enough against the flywheel. Check that out to see if that is your problem.

make sure all the wheel bearings are rolling freely as well as the clutch sheos and the brake.

also make sure the set screws are in the drive cups I've actually broken quite a few of them over the last 2 years.

I would check and see if the flywheel is slipping on the collet. I'v had that problem once or twice.

If you checked all the above fixes and still are not moving, you may have snapped a roll pin inside the tranny shaft (you said all the gears looked fine) might be a pin.

thnx for all the suggestions guys. i really appreciate it. i will be looking at all of the above things and will get back to yall later on. thnx again.

thnx for the info guys. the problem was with the pressure plate behind the spur gear. it wore down and was just slipping and not catching enough to turn the tranny. so i went and got as new spur with a new pressure plate and wahlah. problem solved. its now running awesome like it was before so thnx alot guys.

Just bring ing this back up due to an issue I saw today running my savage. I was experiencing the same thing as Tam13, engine revving and movement was minimal. I thought the engine was going to blow from revving so fast! I started poking around and I checked the clutch, wheel hexes, 2 speed, EVERYTHING. I took my savage apart 3 times to finally notice that my damn sliupper nut had backed outquite a bit. I tightened her back in and applied loctite blue and then backed it out a little. My savage pulled wheelies right off the bat. scared the crap out of me as it was facing me when I checked it out. THIS IS A SAVAGE NOT A BUGGY. LOL That directed to those who know of that story. Anyways, just a tip check your slipper nut that it hasn't backed out any.
