so i rebuilt my shocks. #2 piston in front and #3 in rear. new seals and all. only part i didnt replace was the screw cap on the shock oil side. now its random as its happened to a front and a rear shock. only noticed as there was shock oil coming out everywhere. why does the bladder keep popping out?

the bladder faces the oil, and seated? does it push into the cap?

i pushed it into the cap. but it just seemed to sit there....and then when i screw it in. i did it finger tight. tested it. bit of oil came out. then tightened it right up till when the oil kinda stopped. then when i pushed the shock it popped.

Yea, the diaphram should have the air pocket in the cap. So it should be bubbled up toward the shock body, and yes it should sit down in the cap. I use a toothpick whenever I put mine in.

does it like clip/pop into the top of the cap. mine just seem to sit there... and should it be clean or does it matter if there is a little oil in there?

It has to get past the threads on the cap, so if you count that as "popping", then yes it pops. A little oil shouldn't hurt, take a picture after you put the diaphragm in place before you screw it on.

Yeh pretty sure I done that. If the thread is a little stuffed will that affect it? I'll try do it again in a few hrs when I get out of bed.

video ends a bit early. but the end result is the same as the first image. the cap i noticed is cross threaded so I'm guessing its not getting tight enough and fluid is getting past?

its the only thing i can think of.

ps i already had the shock oil in the bottom with the bubbles out.

Yea, it looked right. If it's cross threaded that could definitely be the problem, check the body and make sure it's not jacked up as well, if it's just the cap replace it and try again. Is this the only shock giving you problems or are all four leaking?

The only suggestion I would have is when you put the oil in the body I woul move the shaft up and down a few times as theres typically air trapped in the underside of the white "valves" and the air can cause issues with responsivness. Just my .02

yeh done that. i generally put some oil in and then drop the piston in. and twist the valve around to make sure its all out and then slowly pull it down as i do it. then once the bubbles come up top it up.

I have a set of after market, when I installed the oil and was ready to put cap back on I noticed a o ring was in after the bladder was in, like the o ring acts as a seal, no problem with leaking just need to put smaller hole pistons in them , car to boncy.
