just won a tmaxx classic pro .15 off eBay I want to put a 3.3 in it as well as make it wide with control arms. I bought the .15 to 2.5 traxxas kit what else do I need for conversion? And what 3.3 motor should i order as far as the right crank shaft i will still be using ezstart. Also what parts exactly do I need to fit 3.3 tmaxx arms on, drive shafts? I just want to order everything i will need for the convert Please if you know part numbers let me know. Thank u so much. I searched but nothing was really clear .

Anyone with pics of this conversion would be nice to look at

the .15 to 2.5 kit has everything included except for a motor! which is great!

here is the motor you need on tower:

Here is the motor you need on eBay:

eBay has them cheaper so I would buy from there but for some reason they make a 3.3 with an IPS shaft but without the pullstart and if you buy that one it wont accept the ez start, the model number you need is TRA5407.

Here is the IPS shaft 3.3 to not get on tower:

Here is the one to not get on eBay:

There like the same price just dont both accept ez-start! Hope this helps and I know its a lot! haha

Ya it helps alot, and as far as making it a wide maxx?

Driveshafts, axle carriers and turnbuckles. Diffs would help, too. Those old ones won't last very long. Your talkin' around $100 for all the 4908 tmaxx parts. I hope you didn't pay much more than $75-100 for the truck. Your gonna end up investing as much upgrading that old one as a new one cost. And your still stuck with the old tranny and a short wheelbase. The tranny holds up decent, though. If it has reverse it wont. Get a forward only conversion and you should be fine. The old, black plastic parts are weaker than the new grey ones. Upgrade the bulks to the newer style at least. Aluminum ones are almost necessary for anything but pavement pounding. Good luck.

iirc the 2.5 and 3.3 are the same widths just the 3.3 is longer and has bigger(taller) rims and tires? my buddy has a 2.5 and its just as wide as my 3.3 jus not as long or as tall. jus my thoughts.

go for the RPM A arms and the RPM Tru-trac rear conversion A arms and ull b set

Here is what I did?

I took my .15 out, purchased a 2.5 header and dropped my 3.3 right in. I then went with a set of metal dog bones, because a 3.3 will shred the .15 drive shafts. I then replaced my front bulk heads with all metal ones and then I changed my shocks to big bore type set up. Oh before I forget I also changed the spur gear to a Robinson Racing all metal spur gear and I changed my bell to a 16T. I also added a Roll cage to tie everything together and I swapped the chassis for a thicker one. I also went with RPM A-ARMS for strength and durability. This project was a lot of work and money, but the final product is a basher/tank that scares the little kids and Okinawan wildlife and that is all I need to keep this evil grin on my face. I would do it all over again, because I love a good challenge and this was definitely that and now that the majority of the work is done, the truck no longer break after 5 minutes of run time and I can beat the hell out of it and it asks for more.

Your talkin' track width; not wheelbase. But your exactly right. 2.5's and 3.3's are the same width. The original Maxx's had shorter arms. I'm puttin' a set back on mine to match the output of my shot 2.5! I like the look, too. Until I get sick of seein' the bottom side more often!

Not really worried about the money it's the building I mostly enjoy thanks everyone for your help

Will the 3.3 tranny fit in this truck with the 3.3? Or do I also need to get the extended chassis?

Tranny Question

I just replaced my .15/2.5 with a 3.3 and it droped right in. The only issue is when you switch to metal "Dog Bones". There is a length issue that me and my Bestest Bud FrinknJoey had to figure out. We had to modify output shaft cups, by grinding them down with a Dremmel tool, to reduce the binding issue that we discovered in the modification. If you use the stock drive shafts, you will be fine for awhile or when ever the Drive shafts shred. I hope this info saves you time and money.

The kit came with a drill bit and a tempplate to drill three holes in the chassis for a tower . Servo tower carb. That's how it goes . Just wantto see what it looks like

Well finally finished the swap with a 2.5 WOW!! I am hooked on 4x4 trucks! Amazing rips both well into a wheelie fast . Comming up next 3.3. Thank u all so much for your help. Also bought rpm arms new set for 25 bucks good deal or not??

So your hooked now?

Me too, welcome to the desease. I started out with a used $30 dollar Stock Tmaxx, that I have converted to a Tank/Super Maxx Basher. I figure I spent under a thousand with the maintenance, fuel, parts and upgrades. I love bashing, because I am always learning something new. My best friend has been teaching me about the R/C sport. He is a master at R/C crap and has been around the hobby a long time and most of the stuff that I want to do to my truck, he probably already tried it and gives me the necessary pointers that save me time and money. Well I will say this, on a military budget this is a very expensive hobby and he has helped me save time and money. When I first got this Truck, I would only be able to run it for about 5 minutes before I broke something and now I could probably jump it off a roof and not worry about it breaking. Well take care and enjoy you new addiction and remember there is no REHAB available.

so i got the rpm wide arms and the turnbuckles #5141 everything is on i just can't get theese turnbuckles to work its like they are to long???? any one please??
