all right i've been looking around and asking the lhs guys and nobody can give me a good answer on what the difference is besides one has a .15 and the other has a .21 engine in it. is there a web page that spells out the differences. the thing that disturbs me the most is that now i really dont trust anyone at the lhs :(

thanks much

Actually Chewy, both have .15's in them. They call the 2.5 engine the 2.5 to differentiate it between the pro .15. The 2.5 engine has 1.33hp, and the old Pro .15 has .78 hp. The differences in the trucks themselves are that the 2.5 has heavier duty drive shafts and axles, the new wide-maxx suspension- which I think widens it by an inch (may be 1.5 inch) for better handling, it has beefier shocktowers, and may be a thing or 2 that I can't remember right now.

The 2.5 also has a thicker chassis, and is set up for a slide carb/rear exhaust engine.

I still say that the whole naming the new engine a 2.5 is confusing, especially for people just learning/starting out in the hobby, which a lot of T maxx owners are.
