hi,
i can't seem to get the fuel from the petrol tank to the carby to prime the engine i have my finger over the exaust, i got it started but now i can't get it going now and using the pull start this is a kyosho 2wd rtr :fro:

This may sound weird and I dont know if any one else does this but before I start my cars I blow air into the stinger and watch the fuel make its way to that carb, you can clearly see bubbles going to the carb, this is a sure way to know if the lines are clear and it primes the engine before you even pull, my os15cvr will fire first pull after I do this.

Ya put zip ties on it and hope for the best or do what nitro manic does.

the stinger is the small tube your exaust comes out of, in other words, just blow into your pipe

Dude...I'm not "blowing" anything! lol

Anyway, back on topic...

To prime the line, you want to cover the stinger and give the pullstart a few pulls until you see fuel touching the carb nipple. Then give it 1-2 more pulls just to be sure. Attach your glow ignigter and try to start her up. If you have problems try opnening the throttle a hair or 2 while your trying to start.

If you OVERprme the engine you will flood it and it will never start. In this case you should remove the glowplug. Turn the car upside down and place a rag or some paper towels over the head and pull the cord a few time to get the excess fuel out of the engine. Then start over from scratch again.

When I first started with nitro I had one hell of a time trying to get my engine started. It took me about 4-5 tanks of trying over and over again to learn how to start the engine. You'll get there soon enough. In the mean time a pair of "Mechanix" gloves will save your hands from getting blisters as you pull and pull and pull while your still learning.

Ok you pervs! I saw my nephew do this with his tc3 and I thought he was nuts till he pulled once and fired his mill, so, of course when he wasn't looking I tried it and did the same thing! my theory is this LET YOUR FINGERS HEAL! BLOW YOUR STINGER!

I don't think I would recommend blowing your stinger as a means to prime your engine. If it works for you great.

The way I do it is the same way that robriguez mentioned. It also helps if your fuel line is see thru. That way you know when the fuel is at the carb.

rodriguez is definitly right, I prime my engines that way most of the time but I am trying save my hands as much as posible, I dont mean blow so hard that fuel flys out of the carb i mean just watch the line and stop when the fuel has reached the carb. when I first started pulling on my os the compression was out rageous holding the stinger and pulling was damn near impossible, my nephew showed me this and it works! recomended only when car is cold LOL!

well not only do i think is gay to blow anything.....i also would NEVER put my mouth to the pipe for it is usually covered in nitro gunk and grime and dirt and burnt fuel residue....and thats just nasty.

Yes I clean my rides but I dont clean the inside of my pipe...imagine going to blow into the pipe and that usual dark brown nitro gunk comes oozing out into your mouth or onto your lips.... "no thank you teach...I'll take the zero."

Although I dont blow into my stinger, I would consider it if I had a LARGE rubber hose connected to it. Maybe Ill pick up a 2-3 foot length and give it a try.

oh sure! now its all about bein gay! I should have known I would start some poop with that thread reply, ok, dont blow your stinger , forget I ever mentioned it, geeeeeeeeeeez!!!!!!!!!!

Take it easy man....we joke on here alot....

You guys got me thinking about the whole blow into your stinger idea alot. While I still dont think i would ever use my mouth to do something like that I did some searching, and instaed of "blowing" into the stinger why not use a hand operated device something like this:

I'm sure you should be able to use that yellow tip thing to blow into your pipe and produce the same affect without having to yank on a pull start or get your mouth full of gunk.

ahhh ha ha ha ,, Rob,, thats a good one, your always thinkin of a better way, you know,, the damn thing would probablly work! lol

that fuel bulb looks like the top of a turkey baster with a different tip...DUH

Yeah the nasal aspirator...thats the name of it. I tried like a hundred different searches and I still couldnt think of the name.

I found these blue ones and they were much cheaper at $3.50 compared to $10.00 for the air pump
