Hey guys. As this is like my second home, and I've gotten to know many of you and I now call you family, I have a favor to ask. For those of you with a kind heart or religious faith, I need you to keep my Mom in your thoughts and prayers. Her name is Mary Beth, and she's haveing a fairly major surgery on Thursday. I've told some of you about this before, but my Dad died due to a negligent surgeon who was performing a fairly minor surgery on him. Because the surgeon took some shortcuts that weren't supposed to be taken, and performed some procedures wrong, I lost Dad, who was my best friend in the world. I feel pretty good about Mom's surgery because she's going to St. Lukes in the Houston medical center, which I consider to be one of the top medical centers in the world. This is also a world renowned (sp) surgeon, and we've known him for about 20 years. But, as I learned with Dad, anytime a person goes into a medical procedure, there's a big risk. My Mom's Dad was also killed because a local Louisiana doctor performed a procedure in the hospital room that was supposed to be done in the operating room, and he used the wrong sized needle and stuck it through one of my grandfather's main arteries, and he bled to death because they didn't have the equipment and stuff to stop the bleading as they might have if he would have been in the operating room as the protocall was. So needless to say, the track record with doctors and my family isn't the best, and to say that I'm incredibly worried is an understatement. So please keep Mom in your thoughts and prayers, and I will be keeping in touch to let you guys know how things go. Thank you again for all of the support and friendship that so many of you offer on here.

I am not a religious person by any stretch of the word, but I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts.

Everything will go fine and she will be home before you know it.

sorry to hear what happened to your dad charlie, i will definatly say a prayer for your mom and hope it goes well...I'm not extremely religious but God will bless her.

Hey Charlie I will keep your mom in my thoughts as well and I am sure all will go well with your mom, it sounds like she is in good hands with a competent doctor...

x2, RCNT Family Unite!

I wish your mother strength in her time of need as well as the best of luck Charlie.

Same for you and your husband Grrlracer.

Well, since we're talking about thoughts and prayers, you might also want to think about me on Thursday morning. I'm going in for surgery too. I hope this whole thing isn't contagious, and that it will just be the three of us. So, when I'm not around for a few days, you'll know where I am.
Charlie, be their for your mother, Grrlracer, wipe your tears and try to maintain an upbeat attitude for your husband's sake. Sure you're scared, but don't let him know it. You'll both get through this together and it will only strengthen you.

I'll definitely have you in my thoughts and prayers as well Ralph. Grrlracer, it's so refreshing to see someone with a relationship like yours. So many people lose sight of the reason that they're together in the first place and have unhappy marriages or have to get divorced, and it's nice to see someone like you that still maintains such a heathy relationship.

I have personally met Charlie's mother. She is one of the sweetest women that i have met in a long time, especially with how f'd up the world is nowadays. She will definatly be deep in my thoughts and prayers. And Charles, I want you to know that if you need to talk about anything, I'm here for ya. And I'm sure that is true for everyone else on here. We have talked about this a good bit, during our 5 hour trip, and i hope that one surgeons screwup with your father (god rest his soul), wont worry you about the great doctors out there.
Much love bro.
James

Man bad news comes pouring in this week. But fortunately, there are good thoughts as well.

A prayer I can not offer, as that would be a shallow gesture from someone as unreligious as I.

But my thoughts are with you, your family and especially your mother.

request granted charlie. I'm sure the doctors here will do a great job on your mom and she will be up and around before you know it. Remember I'm only about 20 min away if you need anything.

Charlie, I wish you and your mother the best in this time of need. I have no doubt that your scared and worried, you have reason to be considering the past. Stay strong though for her Charlie, she needs you more than ever now considering you both loosing you father. Try your best to stay positive.

Best wishes and all the luck to Grrlracer and Rolex also. Surgery sucks, no doubt, but not all doctors are bad. I've gone through 2 major surgeries myself and have nothing but the highest reguard for my surgeon. Without him, I wouldnt be walking today.

Thank you everyone, you don't know how much these kind words along with the support that you've offered means to me. I was hoping some people would see it, but I had no idea this many people would respond so quickly. You really learn who your friends are in a situation like this. I will let you guys know how everything works out as soon as I can. I'll have my PSP at the hospital so if I reply to this thread with something like "hey guys, she's ok" or something like that, then you'll know that everything went alright. It's hard to type a lot on the PSP, so I'll use those words, kinda like a hitman lol.

I'm definitely keeping her and you in my thoughts the next couple of days. I wish you both good luck and hope she gets well soon after.

Thanks James, I'm very lucky to have a friend like you. You don't know how much that means to me.

I would love to reply to each one of you personally but it would take up way too much space on the server. Just know that I want to thank each and every one of you for your words of inspiration.

Thanks a lot man. I just want it to be known, that just because there are some bad apples in the bunch, I know that most of the doctors out there are wonderful doctors. The surgeon that's operating on my Mom was specifically chosen to save my grandmother after a near fatal car crash. She was sitting in the backseat, and got thrown through the windshield and ejected about 100 feet from the car on the pavement. Without this bone specialist piecing her together as well as the rest of team that worked on her, she wouldn't have been around for most of my growing up like she was. I don't hold anything against doctors and surgeons just because the one guy that my Dad got was negligent.

what day are you coming in man? I will be in houston tommrow morning. If you guys are around and not too busy with the check-in and everything, we can grab some lunch.

I'd be honored to pray for your mom bro.
