vb, that website has a lot of info but it just refers back to the Hudy website and does not give prices. I am looking for local suppliers and prices. I learned a lot about the product on that link, but now where do I get this stuff and how much is locally?

My bit was to high.
I now use a strip of lexon to make sure its proper.
I put the lexon strip between the com and the bit. When I tighten it up till the bit touches the lexon the strip will lean forward on the top side just a tid-bit. This shows me that the bit is just above TDC. If its leaning to much I drop the bit down, not enough, bring it up.

I will get some oil and try it your way. Any recommendations on oils to use?

If you can get ahold of Cobras Comm Cutting fluid, that's the stuff I use. I love it. Tower might still have some. If they do, it'll be team cobra part number #40002, a half-ounce for $5. It literally goes a long way, dispite being only a half-ounce.

I don't have lexan like that on my lathe... I used a plain ol' washer and my calipers... I wrote down some notes somewhere as to how to achieve proper alignment. I'll have to dig them up.

If your LHS can do it, I'd say go to them. The price of shipping plus the time to ship ... you're better off doing it locally.

Exactly - Plus, if you talk to them nicely enough, they might let you watch.

About 10-15 seconds a pass on the comm. Anything faster, and you risk chipping the comm. This is one case where slower is better.
