RC Driving Style
I have a Black Widow Peak Charger (2 and 4 amp), I was wondering if it was possible to hook up a 12 volt battery charger to it to charge my servo cells...
Cause I don't always have a car battery handy.
 
Damn, alright. I wasn't too sure so I didn't try it.

Any ideas as to any alternatives?
 
Go to a local gas station, and for a few bucks you'll be able to get an old car battery that still works. Charge it, then use that to power your charger.
I use the portable jumper pack that you charge in the house, then keep in the trunk for emergency starts. I can charge anything at the track or inside at home.
 
I was thinkin about getting a car battery, but I'd rather have the jumper pack... People would start lookin at me wierd if I carried a car battery into the park here. lol Oh well, for now I'll use the car battery, until I get the 2.5 or something.
 
just buy a 12volt gell cell. there small and pretty light.you could fit in to your pack..
 
Would it hurt anything to just use a 12 Volt DC power supply?
 
yes you can use a 12v DC power supply thats just a outlet running off of a 12v batt. The reason you can't use a Car battery charger is because most only start at charging with 20amps which is way too much. Does your charger not have aligator clips??
 
Exactly what I use, but not that brand. Mine also has two 110v outlets on it that have been used for lights during a power outage. They have come way down in price and are a good thing to have around.
The other reason you can't use a battery charger to power your charger is that the output voltage is usually 13 to 14 volts. That also what your alternater would put out to charge the car battery. That's why the manual says NEVER to run the car when your charger is connected.
 
I say save the headache and buy a few extra reciever packs and install a pullstart...

Some (most) 1:1 car chargers have trickle charge which is a lower current and a high current one that gets the battery charged quicker, you may be able to use the trickle, but don't quote me on it. The more expensive ones allow you to jump the car with it, which is a high current output. I doubt you could use that for much of anything rc related.
 
I use an EZ-Start which isn't the greatest I know, but I got everything going good and I found a temporary solution to the slipping one-way bearing... I have to take it out and clean it about 2 or 3 times more than usual. But for the servo power I use an airplane receiver pack, which works really well and it's much easier than the stupid 4 AA pack. I also got an HPI one-way bearing instead of a Traxxas one (on accident cause I asked a roommate to pick one up) and it seems to last longer without having to clean it. Anyways, I am gonna get one of the 'Instant Power' things since that what my friend uses for his stuff.

The receiver pack charger I have is called a "Park Pal", it's about the size of the receiver box on the Maxx and it works great. I borrowed it from a friend a loooong time ago and forgot I had it. Heheh.
 
I'm with olds97 just buy a few extra packs and have them charged and ready go pretty cheap nowdays like 20.00 for a ofna 1400 on ebay save your self the headaches
