hi everyone, i own a savage 25, for only like 2 days now, and my slipper clutch is already burned out, on like 5 or 6 six tanks of fuel, is that normal??

i bought it new, so today i went back to the dealer who sold it 2 me, and he also told me it wasn't set tight enough, ok so i bought a new slipper clutch, but any way many thanx 4 your info, it help me alot, regards .. rasta_farai

I would think the dealer would have given you a spur if you bought it new from him and he agreed about the problem. My LHS would have for good customer relations.

yes i also though he would he give me the part, and then he told me, ''no you should've been check it out'', and some other nosense he also told me, but ok since he's the only dealer here, i don't want to argue with him. Anyway do you also have a savage 25?

I have a savage as well, but I pretty much have to have mine locked down or it slips. For a typical 25 savage, you should be ok to tighten the nut until the spring is fully compressed, then back the nut off 1/4 turn.

Yes, I do!

nice! :first_place:..... did it also gave some problems in the beginning??.... i'm planning 2 buy the Steel Spur Gear Set,do you think it is a good idea??

is yours still stock or a upgrade version?:)

Pretty heavily upgraded.
Engine: LRP 28 S3
Pipe: Losi HT
Wheels: traxxas 17MM with t-maxx 3.3 lug tires
Trans: 3 speed
Tank: 160cc associated RC8 (I think)

Those are the highlights. A myriad of other bits: XL machined diffs and alloy diff cases, Lunsford turnbuckles, higher end servos.

I just ran it today for the first time in a long time and honestly... I enjoy driving my heavily modified revo more. It doesn't take the big air like the savage does, but it does everything else quite a bit better. I ran a tank or two through the savage and forgot how well it does with 6+ feet of air under it. The revo slaps the ground pretty hard with anything more than 5 feet under it. So I stick to smaller more technical jumps when I run the revo.

My 25 didn't give me any problems until I started jumping it. Then I lost a spur gear, later a rear diff and the always troublesome grub screw in the center drive cups. There's always going to be a broken part here and there but my Savage is really a reliable truck.

I also don't care for the steel spur gears. Meshed properly the plastic will hold up to a lot of running.

Stick with plastic or else you might end up stripping something in the tranny.

oh ok, many thanx 4 ur advise, think i will stick with the plastic:)

wowww nice, that's a lot of power, does it make wheelies???

ohh ok, i will also stick on ur advise, many thanx for ur advise,:)but is ur savage upgrade version or still stock???

Yep. To the point that it's frustrating (but still fun!). Also wears out the center drive cups pretty quick. With the alloy cases and cups with the diffs shimmed properly and running CNC'd XL gears, the diffs are holding up really good. I just have to keep a close eye on the bearings. Had one blow out on me and I thought it was the diff teeth. Luck found me and I heard it I'm guessing very shortly after the bearing blew. Had the typical rat-a-tat-tat-tat that a diff normally gives you when the teeth are busting/grinding off.

Anyway, I run a plastic spur as well. It makes you have to get the slipper set just right so it doesn't slip much. With that much power, as soon as it starts slipping, it glazes right up and melts the spur in short order.

Mine has a few upgrades, nothing too wild. Now running an STS .28(yeah,lots of wheelies) with a Robinson Racing flywheel, aluminum clutch shoes and a Fantom Steel pipe and titanium rollbar. That's really about it other than the usual stuff like a hump-pack,fail safe and a better steering servo.

The last hobby shop that tryed to treat me like ddidn't turn out so well for him.I took 3/4 of his r/c sales away from him.I bought parts and R/C's online
and would have there parts the next day cheaper for 20+ guys a month
I didn't make or lose any by doing it.Just a hole lot of good karma.and good times.
There is lots of online hobby stores that would love your bizz. And will bend over backwards to help.just call them and see.I would have had 4 new slippers the next day free.
